The South Node represents what one already knows from memories retained in the unconscious of past life experiences, a storehouse of information to draw upon. The problems occur when a person dwells in the areas represented by the South Node, instead of drawing strength from them to use as they focus on the North Node experiences which lead to growth. Some feel that the South Node represents karmic experiences, knowledge learned in previous lives. But even if you do not believe in reincarnation, the South Node should be a source of strength, but not a place to reside.

Those who have Chiron conjunct South Node have difficult lessons to learn. There have been some serious, painful past experiences in your life. Chiron here initially can result in the blame game. Problems you have as an adult are ascribed to a strange or terrible childhood, and there is a reluctance to try working them out. When you are under stress, the tendency is to fall back on this excuse, or begin to act in an erratic manner, allowing Chiron’s maverick nature to come out in its most negative expression. The lesson is to move on from the past, not let it rule you. As I said, the South Node has experiences to draw upon, and use. As you heal, you can draw upon your hurtful past, as it taught you a lot then you can move forward. As you do, you begin to share their unique insight with others. You learn to integrate Chiron and it is so much a part of your nature that you can draw upon it whenever another is in need of being helped. You aim your sights at the North Node and seem to attract people who can be helped by your Chiron.

On one level or another, as you heal, you can become a healer yourself. Carl Jung said that only someone who has been wounded can heal others, and if you have a lot of strength you can draw upon to do just that.

Chiron Square Ascendant

This point progresses very slowly throughout your lifetime. Therefore you are likely to have this aspect in your birth chart. This progression may emphasise your healing abilities. You are on a quest to learn the many aspects of healing - physical, emotional and spiritual. The quotation from the Bible's New Testament Luke iv. 23. - "Physician heal thyself" - may hold special meaning. You may also need to learn when to give others the freedom to heal themselves and when to offer a helping hand.

Chiron square Sun

You are person who truly wants to change the world in some way, although you may or may not ever do anything about it. This urge stems from something very subjective, your wound has forced you to go through at least one, but usually several major changes in your self-image and sense of purpose. Any Chiron square throws the other body off balance, and often, so that the person must make time to re-establish the balance.

Most likely, the wound stemmed from your relationship with your father, or other male role model. Perhaps you never could understand what your parent expected of you, what they expected you to be or how they wanted you to behave, and so no matter what you did, you never received their approval to help you feel good about yourself. Or perhaps you were made to feel that you had to stay in the background, that your parent was much more important than you. No matter what, you developed into an adult with a poor sense of who you are and your potential. And as a result you became a searcher, trying to find your true self, your calling, your ultimate purpose, never feeling completely sure you are on the right path.

Once you have learned to leave a sense of ‘ultimate purpose’ open to change, and have learned that your self-image must be allowed to adapt through new circumstances, you then begin to thrill in self-discovery and in discovering more about the universe. At the same time this process goes on, you should begin to want to do something for the world in some way to correct an imbalance, open a door, teach, research.

NOTE: Some people never do accept change and are forced to cope with one disruption after another. If you continually fight the healing growth of Chiron, this aspect can become a symbol of feelings of persecution, as you nearly always see the disruptions as coming from external forces.
