No matter how they made you feel (and it may have been unintentional on their part), should you become a parent, the way you treat your children need not be anything like the way you were treated.
A major lesson is that you must grow and evolve along your own path, no matter what they said, you ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t’ do or become.

But the more you heal, the more you desire to learn about yourself, and about the world, the more you learn, the more you heal. To some extent this means that you may be a student for your entire life.
Careers where it is important to remain secure, learning is where you will shine, where you can do something to help others heal in some way, physically, or emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or a career where you open minds, encouraging others to want to learn. So you could have a career as a healer, or you could be that teacher people remember because you made them want to explore the world after they left your class.
