Aino Jawo is a Swedish synth-pop duo formed in 2009 by Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo. Born in 1986, Aino Jawo is a member of Icona Pop, known for their unique blend of electro house and indie pop music. They grew up in Stockholm and developed a distinctive sound described as “you can both laugh and cry to at the same time.” Aino Jawo’s background includes a Finnish mother and a Gambian father, and the duo met by chance at a party in 2009.
