Birth Chart Report for Joel Spolsky

By Stephanie Johnson · Bronze Edition

Your Sun Sign

Sun in Libra

Balancing, weighing, judging and reflecting are all attributes that Libra has become known for in astrological symbolism; the scales epitomising the longing to experience balance. With the Sun in Libra, you may be called to bring opposing factions into a peaceful alignment through mediating disagreements and arbitrating disputes. You have a vision of a peaceful world, free of conflict so no wonder you are skilled in mediation.

This quest for peace is deeply embedded in your psyche. Your internal images of peace and your innate ability to see the goodness in both the world at large and the individual calls you into diplomatic, social and relationship orientated professions. You are less likely to be the leader and more likely to be working behind the scenes depending on other aspects of your birth chart. For instance you may be more comfortable working in the secretarial pool rather than as the managing director. Pursuing peace for you might have begun in your childhood relationships with your siblings, schoolmates, team members and friends. The Libran child is often fated to be in the middle, appeasing the aggressor and comforting the victim. In victory you might sympathise with the team that has lost and in defeat you boost the sagging spirit of your own team members. You have the grace of being able to see past the faults in others into their potential, allowing you to be kind to those who have been offensive, and supportive to those who have been discouraging. You give confidence to the underdog, hearten the loser, and make friends with the unpopular, being blessed with the innate skill to bring opposing factions into alignment and include outsiders.

Part of your strategy for peace is to create an attractive environment so that the outer landscape inspires inner thoughts and feelings of beauty. By creating picturesque surroundings you are hopeful that unsettled and angry feelings will be calmed and peaceful thoughts will be restored. You strive to create an environment that inspires you to feel at peace, both at home and in your workplace. Your urge for harmony, symmetry and peace needs to be reflected in your vocation whether that is through your relationships with others or beautifying the environment.

Having an innate respect for humanity and empathy for every individual, you appreciate what is refined and developed. You want to create a better atmosphere, not through conquering or chastising, but by revealing a better option. To you this option is peace, the inclusion of all, harmony and understanding. You know that a civilised world begins with harmony and that your fate is to be an architect of the peace proposal. To find your vitality and spirit and to feel soulful in the world, make an effort for co-operation, diplomacy, gentleness, idealism, peacefulness and tactfulness.

Your Moon Sign

Moon in Cancer

Your Moon is in Cancer, its natural home. As the governess of the tides you too are aware of the constantly changing moods, the fullness of feelings and the letting go of attachments. Therefore you are highly sensitive to the subtle textures and colours of the feeling life, especially when you are in a closely-knit group. You respond to others in your environment and can feel easily hurt when they are unresponsive or withdrawn. Therefore in your daily work and rituals it is important to feel emotionally safe and secure. You prefer your work environment to be like family and instinctually might try and recreate a familial environment. It is important to be aware of your security needs at work and strive to have these met or protect yourself when you feel unsafe. Building both emotional and financial security in your vocation is important.

From an early age you recognised your tender touch. You might have imagined being a nurse, a vet, a carer or a teacher. While your life path may have veered away from your childhood images you still need to feel engaged and attached to what you are doing. Much of your need to care can be fulfilled through parenting. However if you do not choose this path then you might find yourself drawn towards professions where care is highlighted. To care for your own soul, however, you need to feel supported by close friends and provide a safe nest for yourself.

If you are called to the nurturing professions then your Moon in Cancer might lean towards caring for the dependent, such as aged care, childcare, becoming a paediatrician or specialising in infant illnesses. Women's issues or family orientated concerns may also appeal. Nurturing professions such as health care, nursery or day care, primary teaching, social work, nursing, counsellors and helpers of all kinds like family therapists and social workers would be part of the wide spectrum that you may feel drawn towards.

Your Rising Sign

Ascendant in Libra

Retail therapy does not soothe the soul. It may relieve temporary uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, acting as a distraction, but it is not really a solution. You know this. You are a born diplomat so you know that when upsets occur a new object does not really satisfy, that eventually the conflict needs to be resolved. But you have Libra Rising and so you also know how soothing a lovely object can be for a short time. This is your dilemma. Your true purpose is to sooth troubled waters, and not via financial means. Possessions are beautiful and hold some value but the higher path is the one that offers true joy. You're courteous, affectionate, thoughtful, modest and indecisive. Much of your life's purpose is connected with your relationships, both personal and professional. Human relationships are your primary motivation in life. You spend much of your time devoted to thinking about the needs and wishes of other people, ensuring that everyone is treating each other in a fair manner. For this reason your purpose may be connected with justice, mediation or diplomatic work. Harmony is so important for your well-being. If you would like to focus on a positive affirmation connected to money then with your Libran Ascendant you could use this one from “Creating Money – Keys to Abundance”by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer “Everything I do adds beauty, harmony, order and light to the universe”.

You're also an empathetic listener, unafraid of confronting intimate problems. In fact you prefer to talk to people on a meaningful level, rather than communicate on a superficial level. At social gatherings you can often be found in an intense conversation in the corner of a room, rather than taking part in the general social chat. Communications with you are intense. While you're good at listening to others, you can also have a tendency to be obsessed with your own problems. You're a worrier. You do best when you can turn your resourceful and probing mind into a project which requires concentration and research. A little intrigue would also be welcomed. You enjoy reading novels with an intricate and absorbing plot.

You do enjoy relating to foreigners, because they can teach you so much about yourself and life in general. If you can't continually be on the road, then you like to hear about other people's journeys. Your friends come from all walks of life and you're popular, so there are many friends. You're benevolent and loving in all of your relationships, ready to join in on others' adventures and experiencing genuine pleasure in their company. If not your friends will become your family, and you've many friends. This depends on other influences in your birth chart. You're kind-hearted and popular and so attract friends from both the lower and higher echelons of society. Although you mean well, you do need to be wary of becoming too meddlesome in other people's affairs. You're likely to benefit from your connections with your loved ones, possibly through unexpected inheritances and legacies. Astrologically the planet Jupiter is considered to be in a favourable position in the sign of Cancer and therefore it is likely that you will achieve your goals.

Saturn in Pisces

The planet Saturn in the sign of Pisces signifies that you're a compassionate and intuitive worker, although you can be anxious and fearful. At times you're indecisive and fickle in your actions because you're prone to allow external influences to sway your judgement. As a result you often experience delays and frustrations. You also seem to be frustrated in your attempts to achieve practical ambitions. You're ingenious and inspiring, but lack the ability or the circumstances to achieve your material ambitions. This concerns you more because of other people's expectations rather than because of your own values. Truth be known you would rather pursue a spiritual path or develop your artistic talents than work your way up the corporate ladder. Money and material goods are really only a means to an end, as far as you are concerned. You're more likely to seek security through understanding the psychic and metaphysical side of life. You would also prefer to have the opportunity to withdraw from the responsibilities of daily life rather than face the rigours of other people's expectations. Left to your own devices, or with a wealthy benefactor, you're happiest when meditating or reflecting on the afterworld or starving in the name of art.

Your confidence and identity may suffer because your reality; that which you once believed was the truth, might later be revealed as something quite different. For example, you may have grown up in a cult or alternative community, or you may have a parent who has experienced drug problems or mental illness. Whatever your circumstances, you may feel a deep sense of loss, confusion, or disillusionment at some point.

You are probably more evolved and aware than you give yourself credit for. Because of your wounds, you may feel a bit lost and unsure of yourself, but over time you will become more aware that you possess rare and worthwhile gifts. Try not to feel obligated to continue with situations or connections that have a negative influence on your wellbeing, just for the sake of belonging.

The challenge you face is to get in touch with yourself and your own spiritual core. By doing this you will establish your own beliefs and more than likely discover that within you lies a highly creative and imaginative artist. At times you can feel you have lost your way and that you are simply going through the motions. If you feel depressed by the circumstances of your life, seek help and guidance. You are a highly intuitive and caring soul and helping others can be spiritually uplifting. Do not be tempted to escape your pain by medicating yourself with drugs or alcohol. Share your experiences by assisting people in similar circumstances.

The key to healing is to be found in your own spiritual journey. Possible options to explore include: Reiki, spiritual and energy healing, meditation or hypnotherapy. Most importantly, develop a meaningful life philosophy and embrace music, art and colour. Your capacity to give selflessly is second to none, but you need to give to yourself too. Once you embrace your spiritual centre, you will find wisdom.

Planets in Houses

Sun in 1st House

The progressed Sun moves slowly through the houses. The first house of your chart is currently emphasized indicating that your need for personal happiness and health is a background theme in your life. If you have been more introspective, or have been working on a project that requires seclusion, then you are likely to shine now. It is possible that you are realising some important hopes and dreams and reaping the rewards of previous hard work.

Moon in 9th House

This could be through a complete change of scenery such as moving to a different country, either on vacation or as a more permanent move. As the Christian Proverb says: "Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding" Proverbs iv. 7 The sign of your progressed Moon will also show you the area of your life most likely to be affected by this newfound need for adventure!

Mercury in 2nd house

Mythologically Mercury is the divine patron of commerce, the god of the marketplace, trade and exchange of money. He was also known as the trickster god and also brought his penchant for deceit and theft into the marketplace. All archetypes have dual faces and both sides of Mercury influence your experiences with and attitudes towards money. Consider both sides of the coin in all financial dealings for what may seem to be a sound investment could turn out to be a sham or on the other hand what appears to be dodgy could really be beneficial. You have an innate capacity to tell the difference and you hone your skills at reading people and situations in the marketplace. You are at home in the world of commerce, bargaining, buying or selling, trading, importing and exporting, even communicating about financial markets. E-Bay and shopping on line are the modern manifestations. If Mercury were given a portfolio in the government he would either be the Minister for Communication and Transportation or the Minister of Information.

Vocationally you would make a good living as a trader, salesperson, commercial investor, financial writer, and stock expert. You can thrive in areas where there is a lot of anxiety, movement and change. Whether you are on the floor of the stock exchange, behind a counter on Boxing Day sales or purchasing the latest fashion line in Milan you are at your best when there is lots of activity, challenges, and things to do. Your great skill is to think fast, be swift footed and mobile. Also as the divine patron of writers, Mercury in this sector suggests that you have a knack for earning your income by telling a story, writing, lecturing, educating. Whether you are a scriptwriter, songwriter, speechwriter, screen writer, journalist, novelist, columnist or just write in your journal for pleasure you are satisfied when you are exchanging stories and information. However you also might be the one delivering the speech, radio announcing, public speaking or teaching, as it is through communication that your find your worth and value. You certainty are capable of earning your living in the communication and transport industry.

To be realistic would be to suggest that you would have many wild ideas and great schemes about how to make money and earn your living. Why not? That's part of the fun. For you making a living is about having fun, communicating what is important and being able to be flexible and mobile. You need money to buy books, travel, pay for your courses and use the Internet. After that it is debatable. Mercury inspires you to use your intellect, your ideas and your ability to communicate in the way you earn your living. Whether you write it, think it, speak it or draw it you need to express it to feel satisfied. Your secret to success is that when you are able to express your ideas are when you attract appreciation, acknowledgement and assets.

Venus in 3rd House

During this phase you are likely to seek to expand your mind through pleasurable activities. You are not so focussed on long journeys, academic studies or foreign cultures. Rather you seek to learn through your own, or other people's experiences. You may also be reaping the rewards of your own experiences. As you are keen to learn new things, you may enjoy the stimulation of travelling on frequent short trips, reading material that stimulates ideas, and courses that teach practical skills. You may also find your connections to those around you changing. For instance you may have the opportunity to spend more time with siblings, or other relatives. Your neighbours may become more prominent in your life. The idea is that you develop your mind and interests in ways that give you pleasure.

Mars in 3rd House

During this period you learn to assert yourself and speak your own mind. If you are already confident in communicating your feelings, thoughts and opinions then this is likely to be a period during which you discovery more and more opportunities to express yourself. If you have previously lacked confidence then now you are likely to find your own voice. You may also feel the urge to branch out and learn new skills. Alternatively you may lead others, teaching and training. Projects that involve concentration may be rewarding.

Jupiter in 9th House

Jupiter is also in the 9th House of your chart signifying that international affairs hold a certain fascination, challenging your view of the world and giving endless food for thought. You're interested in international economics and politics, religions and cultures of other countries, archeological findings which uncover the ways of life of ancient civilisations, and awe-inspiring overseas natural wonders. Discoveries of other galaxies and universal phenomena also excite your mind. You like to travel overseas to experience first-hand the attractions of other countries, but you're also happy to study in a college or university. You are likely to attract good fortune on your travels. Religion and philosophy also appeal to your enquiring mind. You're full of plenty of philosophical and religious ideals of your own, but you also like to keep an open mind. You're a wise person, basically optimistic about the future of the world. It's even possible that you possess prophetic abilities.

Saturn in 6th house

Saturn, the planet associated with the 10th house of career, is in your 6th house, suggesting that vocation is highly significant in your life. Here Saturn’s task is to define the self through work and become masterful and authoritative in the sphere of employment. Therefore Saturn is well placed in the 6th house, poised for hard work and success. That is the potentiality of Saturn in the 6th sector of work; but what is the reality? As an archetype Saturn often manifests as being critical because of its high standards and perfectionism, attitudes which you might project onto your work environment expecting it to conform to your values and high standards. The reality of course is that work will not be perfect and you will make mistakes along the way. With this in mind the possibilities for success increase.

First step is to acknowledge your ambition and your goals. Innately you want to play by the rules, work hard and ethically, adhere to a routine and get acknowledged for your accomplishments. Unfortunately the work world does not always have the same work ethic as you. Duty and responsibility to your job are high, but others, even your boss, may not share this attitude. In fact you may have already experienced a string of bosses whose competency and dedication were no match for yours. Or found out that all your hard work and dedication will not be utilised in the final process. Feeling defeated, you may turn to complaining about your situation and the lack of management or integrity. Important that you recognise this is a challenge to your authority and autonomy. In other words you get to experience what you won't do when you're the boss. You work best when given the responsibility and control; therefore if that is not there, grumbling will not make it happen. You have to. Part of the fate of Saturn in the 6th house is feeling alone to craft and shape your own job. But once you recognise your hard work and dedication is for your success, not others, you feel more able to guide your own course.

Control is important for you. Therefore you might consider self-employment, or certainly employment where you know the rules and that the opportunity to move ahead is clear. You can work well in a hierarchical structure when there are bosses you respect. Unfortunately, this might be rare. When it occurs then you will take advantage of the learning curve. But if you do not respect your superiors turn the situation to your advantage. You will grow into any job so take your time. Time is on your side. Becoming an authority or at least highly skilled in your chosen field is very important, so you may find that study and training are part of your job spec. Advancement is important for you so it might be necessary to periodically review your goals and your progress. Time management is also important, as you need to make sure you are able to satisfy all the commitments that you take on. When the pressures of work become greater than you can bear you feel it in your back. Bodily aches, a sore back, stiff knees and pains in the neck all remind you that it is time to relax and take time away from work routines. Clocking off is as important as clocking in.

One of your great assets is your persistence and your focus. But when acknowledgement is not there give yourself a pat on the back, a reward or a bonus. While your promotions may not come as fast as you would like, you are noticed for your efforts and achievements and will eventually be acknowledged for these. But you need to stay where you are to find that out!

Uranus in 12th House

The planet Uranus is in the 12th House of your birth chart suggesting that you often experience intuitive flashes, on which you rely to guide you through difficult situations. While it's true that you do possess psychic abilities that enable you to foresee troubles, you also need to be wary of falling prey to thoughts of doom and gloom. You're likely to suffer at the hands of secret enemies at some stage of your life, perhaps even being forced to flee from your home. It probably comes as a complete surprise to you that you've secret enemies, but on reflection you can see how your own actions may have stirred up resentment in other people. It's possible that you've been conducting a secret love affair, which suddenly becomes public, or it could be that you've been secretly plotting to undermine someone else. Either way these things have a habit of suddenly becoming public and leading to your downfall. Fortunately, you possess an unusual ability to overcome these challenges. You're not easily deterred from exploring your original talents. Your challenge is to put your talents to good use, which you may do by working in an unusual institution or taking an interest in occult studies. Your psychic and mystical experiences can be ultimately of great benefit to humanity.

Neptune in 2nd House

Neptune, the planet associated with spirituality, fantasy and otherworldliness, is in the financial sector of your horoscope bringing its mystical and creative ability to bear on your attitudes towards money, earning a living and resources. At face value this might suggest that your perspective towards money and possessions are not well-grounded in reality. Therefore it is important to recognise your propensity towards being out of touch with the commercial world. On the other hand it reveals that your earning capacity and resourceful nature is fluid and creative and that you value the more refined, spiritual and artistic aspects of life. On a practical level you would be able to do well investing in art, creative ideas or spiritual projects. However this archetype manifests in your experience, it suggests that you need to acknowledge the powerful rip tide in your life that pulls you away from the ordinariness of making a living. Being in the work a day world may be painful and soul destroying until you are able to reconcile the two worlds and incorporate your creative longing in the everyday experience of earning a living. To do this you need to recognise that your talent and skills are coloured by the Neptunian archetype of transcendence, suggesting that you need to make your living as an artist or a healer. Whether or not it is one of these avenues, you are satisfied most when your spiritual longing can find a place on the pedestrian walk of life.

Therefore it is wise to reflect on whether your attitude towards money is misshapen by spiritual beliefs or driven by fantasy. You have a propensity to confuse the material and spiritual worlds, leaving your ability to handle money matters in chaos. If this is the case then it is best to seek practical advice about how to manage your money in the best possible way for you. It is important that you do not unconsciously collude with sacrificing or surrendering your talents due to feeling impoverished. On the other hand you also need to recognise the enormous potential of Neptune in your financial sector because anything becomes possible. Your task is to not let your creativity or spirituality be held back by lack of money. This suggests you need to bring your artistry, your compassion and your magic into how you earn your living. You need to appreciate and value your own creativity before it can be visible to others.

Re-enchanting the way you earn a living in a disenchanted world may not be easy. However it is not impossible and it is the archetype of Neptune that inspires you. This suggests that it is possible to make your living in a creative and spiritual way. In fact it becomes a necessity, as it is in the mundane world where you need to find the magic. Rather than turning away from the traditional, physical and mundane world of commerce and industry you need to embrace it in an inspirited way. Your struggle with money is soul making and for you soulfulness lies in the everyday world of making a living.

Pluto in 12th House

The planet Pluto is in the 12th House of your birth chart indicating that one of your biggest challenges is to overcome your overwhelming sense of responsibility for other people's problems. This is quite a feat because you're often at the centre of conflict without really understanding why. This probably started when you were a young child, and seemed to be the focus of the rest of your family's aggression. Perhaps you couldn't seem to stop yourself getting into trouble, feeling compelled to get into mischief. It's also possible that there was no justification for the accusations. As an adult you again seem to be in the thick of conflict, even if it's now the role of mediator or spokesperson, rather than perpetrator. These situations seem to happen even if you don't want to be involved. It could be that you've the inability to say "no" to others people's problems, or that you're swept along by events. As a result you may have the urge to study psychology or another avenue that explores the unconscious realms of the human psyche. You may also be drawn to study secret arts such as magic or alchemy. Once you've gained some understanding of this pattern of behaviour, you may choose to be an advocate on other people's behalf. Making a choice is very different from being caught up seemingly against your will.

NorthNode in 9th House

The North Node is in your 9th house with the South Node being opposite in the 3rd house. This contrasts the sphere of ideas and information with meaning and imagination. You might be instinctually able to gather together statements, pieces of evidence, figures, statistics and information but in your vocation you will be called upon to infuse these facts with meaning and insight. With the North Node in the 9th you are called to expand your horizons, remove yourself from your familiar surrounds and look farther afield. There are broader issues, wider social parameters and cross-cultural attitudes that want to be developed vocationally. Therefore you might become involved in travel and adventure that exists outside the normal bell curve, find yourself drawn to the study of different religions and cultures to understand others' philosophy of life, or you might be challenged to learn human values and ideals becoming educated in the ageless traditions of human aspirations. Your soul urges you to take flight into the search for meaning and the pursuit of higher values. To do this you need to develop a vision and not get trapped by the details of the smaller picture.

Your comfort zone may be become involved in detailed information and ideas rather than exploring the larger picture. However your vocational probably calls you away from the safety zone of your neighbourhood and all its familiar connections. Vocationally you might be challenged to step away from your schoolmates, your friends and familial surrounds to find what feels missing. What you need to discover is outside these familial and cultural safety sectors. While your career may lead you into information technology or the world of ideas your destiny will be to infuse this area with meaning and imagination, educating and awakening others to greater meaning. Your nodal invitation is to become an educator, inspiring others to become more of who they are. Your gift is that you have an instinctual and intuitive way of being able to express this in a language others understand. Your strategic capacity provides maps for others to follow on their journeys through life.

Chiron in 6th house

Chiron is in your 6th house. While not categorised astronomically as a planet, astrologers are very aware of its profound significance and proclaim its need to be accessed regularly and integrated into your lifestyle. Therefore it is highly likely that the dynamics of wounding and healing will play a role in your job. Literally this may describe one of many healing occupations, especially the holistic healing professions. Ancient medicine had both a rational and a magical approach to health, reflected today in biomedicine and complementary or alternate medicine. Chiron is the originator of the healing arts which unite physical, mental and spiritual approaches to healing. Therefore with Chiron in your 6th you may be involved in traditional medicinal practices, or in some capacity with disciplines like naturopathy, homeopathy, herbalism, chiropractic healing, Feldenkreis, osteopathy, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, crisis counselling, shamanism, dream therapy, psychotherapy, Reiki, astrology or other modalities that work with imagery and symbols as a healing tool. Probably you have always understood the subtle amalgam of mind and matter or wounding and healing. Fate has led you to work with mysterious and subtle form of energy in healing the mind and body as well as compelled you to incorporate this in your daily work caring for either people, or animals.

One of the ways you may have been led into your work is through your own suffering or experience. Through understanding something for yourself on a deeper level you are able to work with others in the same predicament. You may not literally have the wound or scar, but somewhere deep inside you understand the nature of disease and healing. Therefore you could also find yourself working in the health field with those recovering from addictions or trauma or in social work with refugees or displaced and disenfranchised individuals. Chiron was also a mentor and teacher and therefore is connected with mentoring professions such as life coaches, mentors, and inspirational teachers, or simply tutors and teachers who are dedicated to their students.

It is important to honour the aspect of yourself that does not fit into the system. You might be required to work in a structure, a system, an organisation, which you find difficult. Therefore it is important to note that the influence of Chiron in your professional work may be that you feel marginal to the system you work in, or on the periphery of your professional associations. Ironically you are not. But you understand something beyond the system and outside the radar and will not compromise your own understanding. While you might feel foreign to the system you work in, there is a lot of freedom in that. You may actually be a foreigner in the work system. This could manifest in a variety of ways; however it does, it is most important to celebrate your differences and use them to your advantage, not turn it against yourself with feelings of not belonging. Work, service, wounding and healing are intimately bound together in your work destiny.

Nodes

NorthNode in Gemini

In your natal horoscope you have the North Node in Gemini and the South Node in Sagittarius signifying you have access to a breadth of knowledge. Innately you are scholastic, yet ironically schooling may never have brought this out in you. It is through your own course of study, adventure and travel beyond the horizon that have educated you. Through your own personal experiences and training you have accumulated a large library of resources and in your vocation you need to draw on these. The dragon you will fight in your professional life will be the feeling that your hard-won opinions and beliefs are the right ones for everyone. Ironically you will be called on to disseminate your ideas and beliefs but now the righteousness needs to be extracted so these concepts and ideals can be more widely distributed. By nature you are a teacher, an educator and a trainer and your vocation is to inspire others not convince them of your beliefs.

Qualities that need both development and expression in a vocation are concentrated on the faculties of communication and ideas. You need to widen your sphere of influence in order to disseminate your innate knowledge, whether that is through speaking, writing, teaching, broadcasting or telecommunications. Therefore it is important to network, make contacts and be active in the community of colleagues. With your breadth of understanding and intuition you have an uncanny sense of knowing what is right. Let your intuition, innate knowledge and far sightedness lead you concentrating on articulating and forming ideas so that your beliefs can be understood and embraced by the world at large.

Your invitation is to be a correspondent with larger ideas. Since you have an innate knack at seeing the larger picture and the underlying meaning to what is going on you are called to impart these concepts to a wider audience, becoming a practical dreamer, an everyday philosopher. Communication is a necessary part of your vocation. Whether you express your creativity through design, writing, journalism, politics, lecturing, body movements, laughter in not important; what is necessary is that you articulate these creative ideas. Any medium that can offer a venue to exchange ideas, thoughts and information is vital in you feeling vocationally content. Flexibility and the freedom to communicate are paramount. Having an instinct for education and knowledge you are able to marry this with facts, statistics and information, therefore employment which involves telecommunications, the Internet, sales, specialised information, maps, atlases, books, magazines, news, reports, and statistics might appeal. However your vocation finds you, it probably will be when you're on the move, in between or asking the larger questions about life.

Aspects

Sun Hard Mars

The Sun is making a difficult contact with the planet Mars in your birth chart meaning that your life goals are constantly being challenged. This is most frustrating because you know what you want to achieve, but obstacles often seem to stand in your way. As a young child it's likely that strong parent figures or difficult circumstances prevented you from getting all that you wanted. Now as an adult the battle continues, and you feel that you have to fight to achieve your goals. You may not be aware of how often you're jeopardising your own success by trying too hard and tackling projects and other people too aggressively. You need to learn the difference between assertion and aggression. You may believe that you're simply stating your own case clearly, but others believe that you're being pushy and dogmatic. The positive side is that you've plenty of energy to achieve your goals, you enjoy taking risks and are not afraid of confronting difficulties. You simply need to find a healthy outlet for your enthusiasm and energy. The challenge is to use your will power so that you can achieve success through co-operation with others.

Moon Hard Mars

The Moon is making a difficult aspect to the planet Mars in your chart indicating that arguments and emotional disputes abound in your home life. These upsets could be caused by another member of your family, but it's more likely that you're quick-tempered and intolerant around your loved ones. Your intentions are good, but you've difficulty containing your anger in certain situations. At times you feel as though you've been unfairly misjudged and this adds fuel to your already well-lit fire. Unfortunately your impatience and irritability can result in periods of loneliness because others would rather leave you alone than bear the brunt of your bad moods. You may also find that your loved ones are angry at your attitude or it could be that they simply find it impossible to relax in your company, which is a problem if they want peace and quiet at home. You need to find an outlet for your nervous tension. For instance, letting off steam in sports or activities that demand high energy or concentration will help. Finding an absorbing project which can be based in your home could also prove beneficial. You certainly have plenty of energy and this could be directed into new enterprises or working around the house.

Moon Conjunct Midheaven

The Moon is at the uppermost point of your horoscope bringing a strong lunar influence into your vocation. This suggests that you are drawn to care, protect and nurture. While this caring will mainly be for other humans, especially children or the aged, it could also imply your concern for animals, plants, antiques and artefacts. You feel called to help and provide for others in some caring capacity. You are a born historian and collector, probably happiest when surround by souvenirs and mementoes that connect you to your past. Your vocational path challenges you to express your sensitivity, empathy, intuition and imagination in the world.

Moon Soft Saturn

Much of your adult life has been spent trying to overcome the difficulties that you faced as a child in your home and family. Astrologically speaking this is because the planet Saturn is contacting the Moon in your birth chart. Ancient astrologers believed that the planet Saturn had a negative influence in a person's chart. In your case your early home life has been adversely affected. The extent of this effect depends largely on other influences in your chart. In some cases it can mean that your childhood home lacked spontaneity and warmth, but was well-organised and structured in a manner which helped you to feel supported and safe. However, it's more likely that circumstances in your family led to you feeling that home was a cold and unsupportive environment. This could have been one painful incident such as the loss of a family member, or it could have been the result of years of hardship. It's possible that one of your parents, perhaps your mother, was a strict and severe influence, unable to show you the affection that you felt you deserved. As a result it's likely that you're somewhat shy as an adult, lacking in self-confidence and sensitive to criticism. You may be emotionally reserved. Perhaps you decide to live in solitude rather than risk the lack of affection and warmth that you felt as a child. As you grow older, you're likely to become more confident in your personal relationships. You learn about personal relationships through life experience, and your loved ones also become more mature. As a result your relationships with other people become more stable and satisfying as you grow older. You also develop an inner self-confidence which helps you build firm foundations in your life and achieve your ambitions, as well as loving family relationships. You work solidly to build yourself a secure and firm footing, earning the respect of those around you. You can succeed in business and in your career, particularly through being noticed by your superiors. You may also benefit through investments in land and property.

Mercury Soft Jupiter

The planets Mercury and Jupiter are making positive contact in your birth chart indicating that you enjoy success in your education and communications with other people. Depending on other influences in your chart, you've the ability to think clearly and deeply, combining common sense with a cheerful outlook on life. These attributes can be put to good use in your studies, and you may choose to pursue an academic education. It's also possible that you prefer to learn through your own experiences. Either way you've a thirst for knowledge and delight in sharing your discoveries with other people. You've the ability to talk to people from all walks of life, and your ideas can be uplifting for other people. Others seem to find your candid and honest manner refreshing. For these reasons you may spend part of your life teaching, writing, lecturing or public speaking. You've big ideas and plans, and the ability to achieve many of your hopes and dreams.

Mercury Soft Saturn

The planet Mercury is making favourable contact with the planet Saturn in your birth chart indicating that you've good intellectual abilities. Your mind is contemplative and profound, capable of concentration and comprehension. Therefore you're likely to shine in pursuits such as study, writing, publishing, lecturing, teaching, travelling, diplomacy, and business. You may be particularly interested in science, politics or medicine. You're fortunate to have good judgement and reasoning powers, as well as an excellent memory. You may have had difficulty expressing yourself as a child, but as an adult you're able to speak your mind in a logical and methodical manner. The saying "older and wiser" certainly applies in your case. You're a sensible person, able to make careful plans and carry them through to completion. Depending on other aspects in your chart you're more likely to take a traditional path in your education, rather than explore unchartered territory. The steady approach to education and communication suits you. You've the ability to become a voice of authority in your field of expertise, particularly a field which requires business acumen, good communication skills and common sense. In other words, you're capable of achieving whatever you set your mind to.

Mercury Soft Moon

The planet Mercury is associated with the Moon in your chart indicating you've a quick wit, and a sharp and penetrating mind. Depending on other influences in your chart, you're likely to excel in any studies, but particularly in communications, media studies, research, and languages. You may also be adept at public speaking, because of your sharp mind, and your clear elocution.

Venus Hard Moon

You're likely to experience problems in your relationships, particularly your relationships with women. This is because of the difficult combination of the Moon and the planet Venus in your chart. On the one hand you could tend to take your relationships for granted, spending little time or effort on improving yourself or your friendships. As a result you're likely to be somewhat unpopular and lose face. If you're looking for favours from your friends, or for a satisfactory primary relationship, then you need to take stock and improve your attitude. On the other hand it's also possible that your friends tend to take you for granted. On a more positive note you enjoy the company of other people, and may benefit through your relationships with women, but probably only with some effort on your behalf.

Venus Hard Saturn

The planets Venus and Saturn have combined in your chart indicating that you have difficulty in intimate relationships. You seek commitment and security in your primary relationship, but may be disappointed at some stage of your life. Its possible for you to have a rewarding, long-term relationship with someone trustworthy and reliable, but it's likely to be after initial setbacks and upsets. You're faithful and loyal, a dependable, stable and dutiful partner. However, you need to be wary of becoming involved with someone who tries to control your movements and behaviour. Depending on other influences in your chart you may be shy and inhibited in your personal relationships, and be fearful of standing up for your rights. One of your parents may have been too strict, eroding your confidence and ability to make your own way in the world. Consequently you fear expressing yourself, particularly in intimate relationships, and harbour feelings of being unattractive. While your personal relationships may prove difficult you've the ability to form good business partnerships. This is probably because business partners don't require intimacy or emotional vulnerability. It's also possible that you're attracted to someone much older. The good news is that once you overcome your feelings of inadequacy you've the ability to form secure and long-lasting personal relationships based on firm foundations. You may favour a traditional marital relationship, complete with a ceremony and wedding vows.

Mars Hard Saturn

Conflict is likely to be a key feature of your life because of the influence of the planets Saturn and Mars in your chart. When these combine in an unfavourable manner it leads to troubles and discord. You're probably well aware of the difficulties that you face in some areas of your life, finding it difficult to motivate yourself to overcome them. Other people and circumstances seem to stand in the path of your success, which is frustrating. In some cases you could be frustrated by a physical illness, which prevents you working towards your ambitions. It's true that you shouldn't neglect your physical health, because you could be prone to illness and harm through accidents. You may find that resentment and thoughts of revenge are ways in which you motivate yourself into action. Of course you would do well to avoid acting on these feelings, otherwise you could end up in violent disputes or in trouble with the law. This influence in your chart can indicate achieving notoriety, which is very different from achieving success. It's possible that you've difficulty remembering a time when life didn't have its problems. Perhaps you had a tough life as a child either through difficult family circumstances or because of a strict and harsh parent figure. Of course much of this scenario depends on other influences in your chart. On a more positive note you're confident and ambitious, capable of driving yourself and others to achieve your objectives. You can be motivated by the thought of achievement, and are likely to succeed through hard work and self-discipline. In fact you're determined to succeed in certain areas of your life. Your will power can be indomitable, particularly when you've determined on a course of action.

Jupiter Conjunct Midheaven

Jupiter, the archetype associated with philosophies, ideologies and beliefs is at the pinnacle of your chart suggesting that fate has placed these concerns in a prominent position of your life. You are a born educator and visionary, drawn to the dissemination of ideas that help foster understanding and expansion. Your search for truth and meaning is at the forefront of your investigations leading you down a path of cross-cultural discovery and learning. You are both pilgrim and professor on life's path, gathering and disseminating wisdom to help expand human understanding. Whether teacher, explorer, guide or publisher, optimism, faith and vision are vocational necessities.

Saturn Hard Uranus

When you're not rebelling against authority, or anyone who tries to curb your individual rights, then you're able to succeed in achieving your ambitions. However, the combination of the planets Saturn and Uranus indicate that you're likely to sabotage your own success through wilful behaviour. You need to overcome your wayward tendencies, and learn to compromise, otherwise your career suffers. On a positive note you're independent, resourceful and self-motivated, all of which enable you to eventually achieve success in whatever you turn your mind to. You may discover that you've natural abilities in the fields of science, mathematics, business organisation, industry and metaphysics. It's likely that you'll succeed in any career that utilises your gift for blending the old with the new.

Saturn Hard Mars

An unfavourable combination of the planets Saturn and Mars can indicate difficulties in your profession, particularly in partnerships or companies. You need to be careful to avoid litigation, which you're like to lose. Of course this depends largely on other influences in your chart. Nevertheless you need to act with the utmost integrity within your career to ensure success rather than scandal.

Saturn Hard Pluto

The combination of the planets Saturn and Pluto in your chart suggests that you're an ambitious, insightful and powerful person, but that you've some difficulty in achieving your ambitions. This could either be that you're overpowering in your attempts to pursue your ambitions, thereby alienating other people. This is particularly true in your relationships with anyone in authority. You don't take kindly to being ordered around by anyone. On the other hand you could also experience moments when you feel overpowered by a hostile world, uncertain of achieving your aims and objectives. The problems are likely to be rooted in your childhood, in which you struggled to find your own individual path. Perhaps one or both of your parents was particularly powerful, even violent during your childhood. It's also possible that your parents, or society's rules, couldn't handle such a powerful young personality. Either way you're likely to make a powerful impact on your friends, family, colleagues and loved ones, both as a child and an adult. At times you might be surprised by the extent of other people's reactions to your presence and opinions. You may even surprise yourself by your own reactions to some circumstances. Authority is likely to be a continuing source of difficulty in your life, as you attempt to find the right balance between your own individual rights, and those of the community. Of course there are many instances when these two rights coincide, but you're more likely to find yourself involved in the clashes. As a result you could be a powerful leader, perhaps in the government or as an executive or politician. You can be a powerful leader, but first you must learn to use your unique insights for positive purposes. The 19th Century author John Stuart Mill said in his work On Liberty (1859) that, "Everyone who desires power, desires it most over those who are nearest to him, with whom his life is passed, with whom he has most concerns in common, and in whom any independence of his authority is oftenest likely to interfere with his individual preferences". Herein lies a key to your chart. You've the ability to succeed in your ambitions, but first you must learn how to deal with the balance of power in your life, respecting both your own and other people's rights to succeed.

Uranus Soft Neptune

The planets Uranus and Neptune are combining in your chart suggesting that your creative urges are strong. You enjoy exploring new territory, either through studying or travelling and your talents may lie in writing, healing, social welfare, healing or spiritual fields. You may be keen to explore metaphysical matters, perhaps even belonging to a secret society or a group dedicated to global healing, charity or spirituality. Your psychic abilities and intuition are likely to be heightened, and this may help you explore your creativity.

Uranus sextile Neptune

With Uranus Sextile Neptune, your life is enriched with opportunities presented by the Angels Zadkiel and Tamiel. Zadkiel is the Angel of Death, and Tamiel of Dreams. Together they extend your understanding of the nature of life and its limits. They also reveal the many ways you can change your life through skillful action.

You have a natural love of ritual. You find, when you think about it, that ritual pervades everything you do. You get along with other people very well because you observe the steps of ritual, entering into each conversation, activity, or association according to socially or culturally defined rules, and in so doing you put other people at ease without undo fuss or bother.

You can develop subconscious talents through conscious expression. In concert with your Angels, you express little pieces of your subconscious awareness in conversation or action. As you do this, you affirm your less conscious abilities and honor them and your Angels. Then your mind is better able to provide ideas and feelings to aid your work.

Inspired idealism may not be what you think you have been looking for, but you are certain to find it eventually. Your Angels send you dreams and ideas all the time, and you have only to pay attention to them. Your idealism provides a foundation for you to help others who experience major disasters or transformations in their lives. When you or others experience loss, your Angels are ready and willing to lift you up.

A potential weakness is the lack of stamina. Physical exercise to build lung capacity and muscle strength is well worth the effort. The physical strength you gain provides a foundation for emotional and spiritual strength.

For mental strength, meditation or yoga provide an organized practice. Kundalini yoga provides a medium for mental focus as well as physical exercise, building all the structures you need to support your developing psychic awareness.

Another possible weakness of structure could lead to high blood pressure and its associated ailments. The above mentioned exercise, meditation, and yoga all serve to reduce blood pressure and strengthen the system so as to avoid dangers of stroke and heart ailments.

Heightened psychic states including clairvoyance are the norm for this combination.

Neptune Soft Pluto

The planets Neptune and Pluto both move slowly through the zodiac, and therefore any connection between the two planets affects birth charts for a short period of time. You were born in such a time. This combination in your chart means that you're interested in opportunities to bring about fundamental change to human values. You are aware of injustices in society and, depending on other influences in your chart, may prefer to fight against them rather than sit back and accept the ills of society. Your creative urges may be linked to politics, or expressing your political views through the arts or spiritual or charitable organisations.

Pluto sextile Neptune

With Pluto Sextile Neptune, your life is enriched with opportunities presented by the Angels Metatron and Tamiel. Metatron has been called the King of Angels and the Chief of the Ministering Angels. This Angel is thought to be the pillar of fire the Jews followed in their exodus from Egypt. He is a certain link between you and the divine. Metatron's association with Tamiel, the Angel of Primordial Energies, is extremely powerful.

You undoubtedly experience supernatural events and conditions during your life. Your Angels provide this resource and can help you refine it. Psychic impressions and intuition become second nature to you after a while. You learn to act on intuition in much the same way you would act on advice from your accountant.

One facet of the path of personal integrity for you involves purification of your soul. This means elevating your thoughts above petty jealousy and anger. While you may never overcome negative thinking entirely, working with your Angels will lift you up, step by step, to thoughts of compassion and love. Love overcomes fear and compassion overcomes hatred.

One possible expression of this aspect of your birth chart is that you have at least one extrasensory ability. At first you may experience some confusion in interpreting psychic and intuitive information as it comes to you. You are likely to overcome this confusion once you develop the necessary comprehension of your abilities and thus develop your psychic skills. Meditation each day allows your Angels to contact you more directly to help in this area.

You have the power of a storyteller combined with the wisdom of a seer. You could write fiction or dramatic scripts, and your poetry can become the liquid fire of inspiration and soothing balm for the soul.

NorthNode Soft Moon

The North Node and the Moon are combining to suggest that you're being urged to come to terms with the emotional side of your nature. You may have difficulty expressing your emotions, particularly in groups of people. This is an area which you need to develop throughout your life, so that you can learn to use your intuition. This will better help you to pursue your purpose in life.

SouthNode Soft Mercury

The South Node and the planet Mercury are combining in a way that suggests your communication skills are highly-developed, but you need to avoid your tendency for talk rather than action. You're being challenged to stop scattering your energy in all directions and put your communication skills to good use so that you can achieve your purpose.

Chiron conjunct Saturn

This aspect is a rare one. It has occurred exact only once this century (1966) , and the people born with this aspect have a unique perspective unmatched by people born any other time.

Saturn is structure, framework, and walls. It is the shell protecting a lobster, and the skeleton supporting you and me. Without Saturn, there would be no order, no structure, and we would not have any perception of apparent reality. Psychologically, it is also the rules we obey, and the conscience we must deal with; that inner voice that says ‘no’, ‘you should …’, ‘you shouldn’t … ’, ‘you can’t …’ It is any crutch one must use, until one outgrows it. Sometimes, it is absolutely necessary, it is the parent yelling “Stop!” before the little child runs onto the street, as well as the parent repeating over and over, “Look both ways before you cross the street” until the child no longer needs to be reminded. But as it says in the Bible, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” Sometimes, Saturn goes too far, is too strict, too rigid, or does not let the person grow even though they are ready to move beyond their walls into new realms.

As you can imagine, Saturn in a chart shows the influence of authorities when a person was growing up. With the conjunction to Chiron, there is a very powerful and deep wound resulting with a clash with one or both such authority figures as a child. Whatever this wound is will initially be a source of great restriction and insecurity, perhaps even self-hatred. In most cases, one parent (usually the father), is the cause of the wound, and there can be a great deal of deep resentment towards that parent.

With most Chiron positions, a person has an outlet for their pains, although often the person needs to go through a lot of growth and healing before they can get enough in touch with the wound to share their pain, and release the hurt. But Saturn, the ‘wall’, essentially locks people up in their pain. You are forced to confront and deal with it inside, and work at it on your own. For some, this is because they were not allowed to express their hurt; some were not even allowed to experience their pain, so heavy-handed was the authority. In one way or another, physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually, you were abused by those who made the rules, or perhaps, even abandoned them altogether.

Within your own private walls, you had to deal with the hurts, and you had to try to master the issues. By mastering them, you begin to transform your Saturn. Until you begin healing the wound, you may find it a struggle to find your own place in the world. Society and culture at large can be viewed with distrust and suspicion. If you do not heal, you may find yourself overcome with cynicism, or even bitterness and reject social contact altogether.

As stated, when you begin to deal with your pain, you transform Saturn, and in doing so universalize it. You no longer see traditional rules as valid, but look to a more universal set of laws. Saturn ceases to be limitations—only handholds and steps on your journey. Once you have come to terms with this conjunction, it promises a remarkable ability to delve into the most hidden aspects of life’s most basic forms, or society’s most deeply ingrained institutions, or the structures that permeate all levels of a culture. You become an individual who learns to make your own reality. It also indicates that you will never let yourself be a prisoner to any structure, nor a prisoner of the past.

And then you find that you not only can share your pain, you can also help others to open up and share theirs.

I think of singer Edie Brickell. She made her musical debut with a song that asked, “What I am is what I am …. Are you what you are … or what?”

And then followed it with a song that attacked people who keep stuff in that bothers them by responding to “What’s the matter?” with the word “Nothing!”

“There’s nothing I hate more than nothing. “Nothing keeps me up all night. “I toss and turn over nothing. “Nothing could cause a great BIG fight.

“Hey! What’s the matter? “Don’t Tell Me Nothing!”

And she totally threw out most of the ‘shoulds’ and ‘should nots’ that society tried to impose on us. When it was time for her to fall in love, she had no problem marrying a man 25 years older than her (Paul Simon). She was writing her own rules obeying laws of a much higher authority.

Chiron opposition Uranus

Between 1952 and 1989 Chiron exactly opposed Uranus forty-one times, and was in orb of opposition for just about everyone born during those 47 years. Thus, it is more of a generational influence than an individual one.

Historically, you can see that this aspect is tied into the accelerated pace of scientific advancement during the second half of the Twentieth Century. Actually, one of the problems is that science is making discoveries faster than they can be integrated into society; even faster than proper safeguards can be devised for our protection from side effects and from the discoveries themselves.

This same ‘vibration’ is, in many ways, a part of the nature of individuals who have this aspect. There is a thirst for the new, for discovery, for experiences, that often outweighs the taking of any precautions. Others dare not try to curtail your freedom, the consequences may not be pleasant. The urge for independence can be so strong that it can create difficulties in relationships. The only relationships that truly last for someone with this aspect is one where each person is given a lot of space to be themselves, in truth, it is difficult to find someone sufficiently secure to give a partner that much freedom. It does give a real spirit, though.

The wound of the whole generation, though, can be summed up in the words, ‘fallen heroes’. For thousands of years, people had heroes to worship, people to look up to as almost godlike. But this generation has seen all of its heroes fall, or show very unheroic sides, or in one way or another, prove they are just like everyone else. As a result, your generation has had a wound that each person must learn to heal in his/her own way, but the lesson is to become one’s own hero to become the person you would like to look up to and respect.

Chiron trine Neptune

This is an aspect in effect for many people. It gives the individual a tendency to take for granted that the dreams you dream are ideals that will lead to a whole life, and may not be consciously aware of how important these dreams are to you.

If, in childhood, you were allowed to dream and express the dreams, as an adult you will feel very comfortable exploring matters of alternate realities and ideals which could slowly change the world. On the other hand, if you were told in childhood to stick to the real world, the dreams you take for granted will be just the dreams instilled in you by others. To best understand yourself, you must take time to look at your deepest dreams and decide are they truly your own, or have you just taken the dreams of others and sacrificed your own?

This aspect enables you to sojourn beyond the present world into more spiritual realms to help you heal, and it would be advisable for you to take time on a regular basis for meditation, yoga, or other transcendental activities. In fact, it is necessary, if you are to make the best of living in the day-to-day world, that you have regular times where you get away from it, and so this aspect shows that you need to be sure to allow yourself time alone.

Some of your greatest inspirations will come during these ‘journeys’. Chiron trine Neptune person Alexander G. Bell came up with the idea for the telephone while on one of his ‘journeys’ outside of his day-to-day existence.

Chiron opposition Pluto

Chiron and Pluto do not reach opposition often, but when they do they often continue that aspect for several years, creating what some call a sub-generation. In the past hundred years, they only were in opposition for one period, but everyone born from March 1961 through February 1966 have this aspect in their chart.

This aspect seems to express itself in one of two ways.

• In some natives it shows up as a great need to overcome some powerful inner hostility stemming from early childhood. This hostility may come from being constantly thwarted by parents, or from being a recipient of hostility from others in the environment. Whatever the cause, there are major lessons to learn about opening up, getting in touch with the inner rage, and then cleansing it once and for all from the system.

• In other persons, rather than anger, the expression is a need to win, to overcome obstacles and to beat any opponent. In both cases, you need to face the root of the hostility, or intensity, in order to bring about the needed healing.

It also gives a deep awareness of suffering, something you can put out of your mind but which never completely leaves you. I once read that we laugh at most jokes because it is a way to deal with the pain and suffering; we laugh because we can identify with the sorrow the object of the joke is experiencing and the laughter is a needed release.

Chiron opposition Pluto people often make excellent storytellers, and tellers of jokes, because of this powerful awareness.
