Kiyoshi Miki (Japanese: 三木 清, Hepburn: Miki Kiyoshi; January 5, 1897 – September 26, 1945) was a Japanese philosopher, literary critic, scholar and university professor. He was an esteemed student of Nishida Kitarō and a prominent member of the Kyoto School. Miki was a prolific academic and social critic of his time. He also had tense relations with both Japanese Marxism and the Imperial government at various stages of his career.

Often this is experienced through dislocation, abandonment or relinquishment.

You may harbour feelings of marginality with the need to be accepted often resulting in a feeling of exclusion. Your task is to accept that your apex of security is not at the centre of the system, but on its fringe. Or you may have had the experience of your family being the outsider in the culture or society you grew up in. This family wound of feeling marginal may have hampered your ability to leave the enmeshed family unit. You may feel that your family has perpetuated and confirmed a myth that the pain of living is great. If this is so, then you may feel that your spirit to adventure and explore beyond the family and its culture has been compromised.
When you feel secure, you know you can be heroic when faced with being foreign or marginal in the system within which you find yourself. If your parents encouraged a healthy sense of feeling different and demonstrated freedom was possible by not being part of the system, then you internalised a healthy sense of being foreign. You would have developed the self-esteem to be secure in a foreign environment and acquired the ability to be compassionate and caring about others who suffer the same sense of disenfranchisement. In many ways this is the task of this aspect.
However if there was not enough parental support, you felt orphaned from your family unit. Your sense of attachment may have suffered due to a parental wound. This is often recognised as a harsh aspect; however, in this arrangement Chiron has a unique function in your vocation, calling you to be consciously aware of its influence over the course of your career. This suggests that the turning points in your vocation occur when you find yourself on the margins, a foreigner in the system you are working in. It is at these critical periods when you begin to forge your own unique destiny, realizing that you feel more comfortable on the fringe or edge of your profession, rather than in the centre. This insight frees you to pursue your calling.
This aspect suggests that your calling involves integrating something more subjective and intangible into your vocation. With this aspect, you can use your distinctive characteristics as tools to help you get where you want to go; beyond walls, beyond limits, without very much difficulty, and, you seem to enjoy doing so.
Perhaps because of this you seem to have an understanding, even an acceptance of others who are different from the norm and can work well with them if you choose to do so.
Normally, a sextile implies that one can reap great benefits if one first puts forth the effort. This is true here, but with a twist: with Chiron you seem unable to avoid putting forth the effort; you feel you always must be doing something. (It’s difficult for you to take time out to relax!) Chiron seems always to want you to do something else, and something else again. So, you tend to get a lot done.
This aspect can attract people to you who can become followers, or fans. But it also does give rise to another group of people who do not care for you. In other words, with this aspect, you tend to have people divided into people on your side, and those who prefer not to have anything to do with you.
Chiron sextile Jupiter
A sextile is a working aspect implying the need to put effort in to reap a positive result. Jupiter is abstract concepts, and when linked with Chiron it shows that there was some type of wound connected with how you understood what was going on around you. Perhaps you were made to feel that you were too literal; or perhaps the opposite, too far removed from the actual events around you is too abstract. In any event, part of this wound is a difficulty to be truly clear when to dwell on the abstract, and when to focus on the real world.
If you have not begun the healing, there is a tendency to get caught up in philosophical ideas and not realize you are drifting out beyond what is useful in the day-to-day realm. I’ve often seen this show up in the chart of a dreamer who tries to create a world that fits their abstract concepts, without realizing just how far they have strayed from reality.
The more control your wound has over you, the more you will find you are dwelling on the negative interpretation of various subject matter. But as you heal, you find that you focus more on the positive, uplifting perspective, and can lift others up as well.
As you grow, you develop the ability to catch the ‘feel’ of the times you are in, the general flavour of the current culture. You can tune in to people, and humanity, and get remarkable insights, able to see how things fit in to the larger picture.
One danger, though, comes from making use of this ability before you have grown beyond your own inner wound because your understanding gives you the ability to use your knowledge to control or manipulate others.
