In any event, part of this wound is a difficulty to be truly clear when to dwell on the abstract, and when to focus on the real world.

If you have not begun the healing, there is a tendency to get caught up in philosophical ideas and not realize you are drifting out beyond what is useful in the day-to-day realm. Chiron shows that at some point when you were growing up, there was pain associated with what you wanted to be when you matured. It may be that you were made to feel that you had to find the right career and nothing else would do. Or it may be that some adults tried to force you into accepting the idea that you would never become anything important without working very hard at it, that nothing would ever come easy for you. In any event, on some level, it became extremely important that you find out what you want to do with your life, the role you want to play, and that you are sure it will be the ‘right objective.

This aspect also gives you the ability to help open doors for other people, to be the person that helps someone get their foot in the door if needed.

Chiron trine Saturn

This aspect can make a difficult childhood because one of your parents continually surprised you. Just when you thought you knew what was expected of you, the authority symbol would pull a rabbit out of a hat, and you would have to change your thoughts on how you were supposed to be, or act, or appear. This also meant that you had to change your own self-image, and your concepts of your own limits. The surprises could be good or bad, but were surprises because they came in some area that you had felt secure in taking for granted.

This experience can bring about a number of possible results.

• For some, there seems to be a very shaky self-image because you look for a parent you can rely upon as stable. Quincunx is always an aspect of adjustment. Chiron shows where one needs to focus on healing, and in many ways it can be said to show the hero’s journey, the dragons one must overcome in order to become whole. Mercury represents the logical mind and the ability to communicate. But when close to Chiron it adds another level to its nature as it gives you a great concern for others,.their needs are often a major part of your thought processes. (It would take a drastically negative chart to really suppress this concern.) Because of your concern, you grow to understand quite well how the average person thinks, and are able to reach such people with your words and ideas.

You have the ability to think on many different levels, and thus reach many different types of people.

Because of this ability, you are not restricted to simple verbal communication or written words. Chiron takes Mercury out beyond its normal realm, enabling you to communicate on many non-verbal levels. Perhaps it is because your mind goes places Mercury ordinarily doesn’t go, but you are a truly original thinker, coming up with ideas that seem far-fetched, yet work wonderfully.

But this ability is also tied to the root of a problem. While you were young, your were perhaps criticized for how you communicated; perhaps you were criticized for not speaking clearly, or perhaps people paid attention to your words only and misunderstood what you were trying to say with more than words (emotions, feelings, facial expressions). Or alternatively, you may have picked up the subtext from others, hearing more than they thought they were trying to communicate. In any event there is a deep wounding that impacted how you communicate, so that you were never sure just how much or how little to say, nor were you sure you were being understood. So one of the major lessons you have had to learn in life is how to communicate, and also how to listen.

You seldom overlook some piece of the puzzle because it is too small, or apparently insignificant. It is often such a piece that changes everything. Because your mind is not limited by convention, you can be quite controversial, but often others discover it is well worth paying attention to what you say or write. (In truth, it is difficult to ignore you, even if one does not agree with you, or even like what you are saying.)

You are the person to consult when someone feels blocked and needs to find some way out of their dilemma, you can find the loophole, or think of a way to open the door for others.

Chiron conjunct Venus

This aspect gives, potentially, a great deal of love which comes spontaneously from you, which you can use as a real healing influence, giving most to those most in need. You have so much love, and caring, to give; others may think you give way too much in a relationship and don’t think enough about yourself. To some extent this is true, because no matter how giving you are you never feel it is enough.

But the flip side is that you are extremely vulnerable to being easily hurt, your love is given without strings or expectations, and perhaps without any defenses at all. It is, potentially, a very idealistic position. To quote from a popular song, ‘The world was not made for one as beautiful as you.’ If the aspect expresses itself this way, it is a painful lesson you gradually learn about what the world is like, so that you can deal with situations realistically, and still give out love.

Venus rules, among other things, what you truly value, especially in yourself; your self-worth and here is where you are deeply wounded. Perhaps you were made to feel worthless as a child, or that other people (or things) were more important than you; or perhaps you were made to feel that you should not focus on yourself at all, that it was wrong to do so. Along with this comes a deep, perhaps intense, fear of rejection, which colors the type of people you relate with, and your relationships with them.

In any event, it is a major lesson for you to see that you are valuable, that you have a purpose. Perhaps you might wish to put these words on the wall so you can see them every day: ‘God doesn’t make junk’. Until you learn to value yourself, however, you may find yourself in abusive relationships, or codependent, or placing your partner on a pedestal.

Another expression of Venus conjunct Chiron is a life quest for what is real, valuable, and truly worthwhile in life, a quest for true beauty and value. This can lead you to disregard society’s values, or to try to select what is worthwhile out of all the fake values around. As you do this you may acquire a set of personal values that does not quite fit with those of other people. Depending on the rest of the chart, you may keep this a secret, or be very open about it. The special personal values are there, no matter whether hidden or displayed.

You also have a desire to understand what makes the real world tick; the laws governing material things. It is an excellent aspect for a scientist, for it seems that Venus is not passive when in this aspect. Chiron is trying to uncover as much about Venus as it can.
