Some feel that the South Node represents karmic experiences, knowledge learned in previous lives. The Midheaven is how you’d like the outside world to see you, and so it is your public image and the career roles you take on. Putting these together shows that you have some very deep wounds which have many levels, and have impacted on you as a child, what you wanted to be when you grew up, and as an adult, the way you see yourself professionally and dealing with the public. As a result, your career will be an ongoing journey of healing as you uncover this pain, that hurt, and work to heal them.

It can be quite difficult, with periods of seemingly long-term discomfort and perhaps low self-esteem, forcing you to adjust your ego ideal, your interaction with the public, and the career choices you make.

This can go on until you come to terms with the fact that your life will never become set, unchanging; you will always be evolving, you must always be open to new ways of looking at yourself and what you are doing with your life; and that each time you go through the healing of another wound you are stronger, more whole, and more able to handle the next ‘dragon’ you need to face.

Chiron quincunx Mercury

Quincunx is the aspect of adjustment, and when connected to Chiron, it shows there was a deep wound related to others’ expectations of you. Mercury is the logical mind, and with this aspect, it seems other people expected you to look for another way to see something, an alternative way to analyse the situation and when you did not do so to their satisfaction, you were criticized, or judged as wanting; or perhaps what was expected of you was to come up with more answers, or to find entirely different types of answers to questions. In any event, there is a wound here when it comes to how you think, how you communicate, with a feeling you are not going to be ‘right’ unless you change your thinking, or cover more territory, or see on more levels.

Positively, this aspect does give you the ability to perceive many different levels going on in a situation at the same time. People who have this aspect perceive both the obvious and the more subtle processes as well. When solving problems your mind weaves in and out among the different levels, discovering and connecting ideas and events that one-track thinkers never discover!

Negatively, you can see too many levels, too many features, and sometimes so much that it cannot be sorted out. Too much information can be as bad as not enough. This aspect is very good to have if you are working to help others become more realistic, once its lessons have been learned. The search on many levels for information is natural, creative, BUT, you must learn to discriminate, sort out what you find, and not just accept everything.

Chiron quincunx Mars

This aspect shows that you are the type who will go off the beaten path to do what you need to do. You are able to look into things that are not ordinarily the province of your profession, or your vocation (although not completely alien, either).

This stems from some wound that made you feel you did not go far enough when trying to attack a problem, or did not go in the right direction. Someone in your developing years shaped within you a feeling that you had to do more, go further, try something different, because you just weren’t doing it right! You may end up going to extremes because there is a tendency to continue further down the path, diverging further away from standard acceptable practices. Thus, one of the lessons of this aspect is to know how far to go; to know when it is profitable to go off on a sideline, and when to stop. The danger here is that you can get trapped on this tangent, and not only be unable to return, but not see any necessity for returning. But once you sort out this situation, and learn the lessons, you come back with skills to help others turn around. The thrust of this aspect is usually aimed at pushing you into becoming a pioneer of one sort or another.

Another side of this aspect is an ability to discover incongruities in situations, as well as in the methods and motives used by other people.
