Everyone, male and female, has a feminine side, an anima or animus. With Chiron opposition Venus, there is a lot of pain deep within connected with this part of your nature. Any aspect between Chiron and Venus shows that there were major issues dealing with your sexual role, and/or your relationship with members of the opposite sex. When this aspect expresses negatively, it can be the most extreme case of being unable to deal with one’s own anima or animus as the case may be.
Perhaps you were if a male ridiculed for your feminine side as a child. Or perhaps you were not allowed to indulge in it. (I’ve seen, for example, cases where a male child was discouraged from doing things like painting, or enjoying poetry, made to feel these were ‘not appropriate’ for boys.) Another possibility is the other extreme, that you were judged for being too male, having too much ‘testosterone’, so to speak.
The healing begins when you embrace your feminine side, and find a way to balance it with your masculine side, bringing about wholeness. When the wound is really intense, I have seen some males with extreme ‘macho’ behaviour along with a lot of difficult relationships, and other males going in the exact opposite direction, becoming super-feminine and still having trouble with relationships.
Chiron opposition Sun
There is usually a deep wound here when it comes to fairness and/or equality, to the point that you felt the need to prove you are ‘as good as’ others. It may be that you always had to defend yourself in one way or another, or it may be that you were made to feel that you had to ‘win’ at all costs.
One major lesson you can learn from this aspect is when to compete, when not to! learn how to choose your battles.
This aspect can make you a real fighter, which can be for good or bad. If you see something that you feel needs change, or an obstacle that needs to be overcome, you won’t rest until you’ve ‘won’. This may be a physical fight, but this doesn’t necessarily make you a physical fighter (other aspects in the chart would show that). What this aspect does do is make you appear always ready to take up a banner, always ready to take up a cause.
As you grow, and heal from the wound, any particular cause you are drawn to will be for the betterment of life, or to help others in some way. In any case, there are some very deep wounds here, and a lot of pain and pent up anger (or even rage).
Whatever the causes, the Houses these two bodies fall in on your chart will show where some of your greatest battles come from in life. The sign Mars is placed in will describe your fighting style, while the sign Chiron is in will describe the type of situation that make you feel like fighting. And one way you can tell that you are experiencing pent up anger from the old wound is if someone ‘touches your buttons’, and the anger you feel seem way out of proportion to what the situation should warrant. You need to work on this anger, find avenues to release it (sports, for example, or chopping wood, or other physical activity, or therapy), and as difficult as it may seem, learn to forgive those who hurt you. You don’t have to forget to heal, but you must find a way to forgive.
As you heal from your wounds, you feel motivated to go all out to fight for those less fortunate, or for those oppressed. But until you have begun the healing path, this fighter instinct may simply manifest as a strong feeling that you can improve your life by fighting. Some situations warrant fighting, of course, but healing for you is also learning how to choose your battles, and choose when not to fight.
There are major lessons to be learned here about your masculine side (whether you are male or female, you have both an anima and an animus), which hopefully, you have learned a good bit from during early life experiences. If not, there may develop an overpowering need to assert the self, to the point that the over compensation distorts the lifestyle.
One of the major lessons that you must learn is to be adaptable, to try new methods when they come along, to experiment. Until the lesson is learned, the following is a common sequence of events: you find some method that works, some plan of action, but then tend to use it continually, getting into a rut (habit). After this goes on for a while, Chiron comes along and throws a wrench into the process, the success formula doesn’t work anymore, or it produces negative results. When this occurs, you may fall down, and fall hard! Even when you don’t actually fall, you are definitely thrown off-balance, and must reorient yourself. 1. Make an adjustment, and then go back to some routine method of doing things. 2. Learn part of the lesson. If this is the case, you learn the virtues of trying new methods, new ways of doing things, but not the ‘why’ of the lesson. You might begin to revel in each new method. You may seek out and try to experience every new act that can be found, every new experience and sensation that exists, perhaps even inventing brand new ones. If you continue along this course you will still be confronted with Chiron throwing a wrench into the act, but you will see it as just one more new experience, or as a temporary setback. Continued long enough, there is a danger of going to excess with destructive results.
3. You rise above your past wound, and learn to be adaptable. You learn to try new things, and learn to discriminate, so that you also know when the old methods are still valid. Perhaps you were made to feel that you were too literal; or perhaps the opposite, too far removed from the actual events around you is too abstract. In any event, part of this wound is a difficulty to be truly clear when to dwell on the abstract, and when to focus on the real world.
If you have not begun the healing, there is a tendency to get caught up in philosophical ideas and not realize you are drifting out beyond what is useful in the day-to-day realm. I’ve often seen this show up in the chart of a dreamer who tries to create a world that fits their abstract concepts, without realizing just how far they have strayed from reality.
The more control your wound has over you, the more you will find you are dwelling on the negative interpretation of various subject matter. But as you heal, you find that you focus more on the positive, uplifting perspective, and can lift others up as well.
As you grow, you develop the ability to catch the ‘feel’ of the times you are in, the general flavour of the current culture. You can tune in to people, and humanity, and get remarkable insights, able to see how things fit in to the larger picture.
One danger, though, comes from making use of this ability before you have grown beyond your own inner wound because your understanding gives you the ability to use your knowledge to control or manipulate others.
More positively though, as you become more whole, you have the ability to make people stop and really think. You can open people’s eyes, help them to see a much larger perspective, and you have the ability to teach others how to do this themselves.
