To heal this wound, you need to allow yourself to believe in your dreams again, to get in touch with your imagination. The wound may have gone so deep that it gave you a fear of the unknown, fear of what you cannot see, hear, taste, smell or touch. You must find a way to give yourself permission to open up to what lies beyond the senses, what lies outside the realm of apparent reality. Otherwise, you may find yourself with a tendency to go overboard into the real world then to submerge yourself into material things, in order not to have to deal with the unknown.

This aspect does not denote success or failure at achieving this dream, only the very strong belief that this is what you could be. Even if you have not begun to heal from the wound, there is a curiosity deep within that never completely is broken. No matter what the rest of your chart is like, this aspect makes you very sensitive to vibrations of all types, so you must learn early in life some deep philosophy which takes into account unseen forces. If you don’t, you can grow up terrified of forces beyond your control. For some, this takes on a deep interest in a profound religion, but in whatever direction you were pulled towards, you needed some belief that allowed you to accept your sensitivity, and to accept the forces around you as part of the universe.

You are also extremely susceptible to influence from your personal environment, and soon develop very unique criteria (tastes) about what it takes to make you comfortable. For some it is a choice to live in a residence that other people would feel are anything but normal. There is a side to this aspect that can be summed up in the phrase, ‘the hunger’. On some level as a child you felt you were not getting enough of your needs fulfilled, perhaps not enough food, or enough nurturing, or comfort. As a result, until you heal the wound, you seem never to quite get your fill of something. For some, it is food, and they eat way too much; for some it is security, and they fear going out into the world; for some, it is the warmth of a companion, and they are very needy in relationships. The key to healing is to delve into the roots of your feelings, understand why you felt deprived, and forgive those who made you feel that way. In this way you can free yourself from the hunger that is rooted in the wound, and live more in the present.

Should you choose to, you can easily sway people’s emotions because you are able to tune into feelings common to everyone; some emotions most people can identify within themselves. You probably have an instinctive understanding of how to help others, as you have a deep empathy for the pains and sufferings they feel. Especially those that suffer because they must go without.

You most likely had a mother who was quite unique in some way, perhaps a researcher or pioneer in some area, or simply someone who loved to open new doors to see what was on the other side. Or she may have been involved in medicine, health, or healing, trying to find out how to help people. As a result you inherited a deep curiosity yourself, and an instinctive dislike of closed doors, a belief that nothing should block you from finding answers.

What you believed in as a child, became a source of wound for you. Perhaps you had to put up a wall around yourself to protect yourself from attacks on what you believed, or perhaps you had to accept certain things ‘without question’. In any event, there is pain buried beneath the surface connected with your beliefs, and how you interpret events and situations that you come across. As a result, early in life, you had a tendency to take what you believed for granted, or being too comfortable in your beliefs.

The universe it seems, abhors any resistance to change, so until you learn to heal from your wound, you go through periods of upheaval, as traumatic events come to challenge the validity of your personal belief system. The results usually go one of two ways: a tendency to make some adaptation, but essentially to keep the same beliefs, or a realization that to grow, one must be open to new ideas, new concepts. If the first pattern is followed, there will be many more such challenges, until you learn to adopt the second pattern.

As a result of the wound, you may have built up walls to shield yourself from these new challenges, but such walls are almost always shattered by the next challenge.

When you have begun to heal, you grow to accept the idea of growth and acceptance of new ways of interpreting situations, new beliefs, and new abstract ideas. This has the added benefit often enabling you to perceive hidden meanings that others never dream about.

Compared to the average person, you have a unique way of interpreting things. As healing progresses, you have a talent for working in any area in which it is important to convey a slant that differs from the ordinary. On the one hand, this aspect gives you the ability to see many opportunities that are missed by most people. It is a rare person with this aspect who did not as a child have a great deal of difficulty with parents. Since this aspect seems to stay within orb for many years, it seems to represent more people, whole generations, rather than single individuals. Thus, a great many people came from homes where there was difficulty dealing with authority. This aspect expresses itself as a tendency to get set into some routine, or some effort to build a structure that is impervious to change. You have a clear-cut idea of reality, and while you might not like it, it is secure. But then Chiron comes along and throws you totally off your feet. You may easily feel that you have been zapped! The world picture is suddenly different from what you had thought it was, and reality must be drastically redefined. At this point, you have two options:

1. Allow fear to take over, withdraw, not knowing who or what to trust. You know that what you had counted on no longer works, but you fear looking for something that will work. 2. This is the more positive expression. You recognize that it is up to you to put the pieces together to form a more coherent personal definition of reality. If this path is chosen, you will find that you must eventually go through the catastrophe all over again as you discover that the new reality is faulty, too. or, you may go to the extreme of disregarding conventions, structures, and any definition of reality altogether. You may become totally anti-authority. If you choose this route, you will also, one day, reach a critical point where everything collapses around you, only for you, it may eventually be the coming of a very heavy Saturn event (imprisonment, poverty, ostracism) causing a great loss of personal freedom. What this aspect is trying to teach you is a major lesson, but if you do not learn from such experience, the cycle can repeat.

The most positive path, however, is the acceptance of any definition of reality as temporary, and any structure as useful, but only as a means to an end. By learning to accept change, accepting authority as necessary to a particular situation (but not as all-powerful), accept that those in power are also human, you reach a great equilibrium. You can use Saturn when needed, and go beyond it when necessary. In fact, you can create your own structures to fit the occasion, and discard them when they’re no longer needed. One of the people with this aspect, Robin Williams, said it best as the title of his album, ‘Reality is a Crutch’.

Chiron opposition NorthNode

The South Node represents what one already knows from memories retained in the unconscious of past life experiences, a storehouse of information to draw upon. The problems occur when a person dwells in the areas represented by the South Node, instead of drawing strength from them to use as they focus on the North Node experiences which lead to growth. Some feel that the South Node represents karmic experiences, knowledge learned in previous lives. But even if you do not believe in reincarnation, the South Node should be a source of strength, but not a place to reside.

Those who have Chiron conjunct South Node have difficult lessons to learn. There have been some serious, painful past experiences in your life. Chiron here initially can result in the blame game. Problems you have as an adult are ascribed to a strange or terrible childhood, and there is a reluctance to try working them out. When you are under stress, the tendency is to fall back on this excuse, or begin to act in an erratic manner, allowing Chiron’s maverick nature to come out in its most negative expression. The primary lesson is to understand, forgive, and let go. Those who do not learn it tend to fall back upon their past.

The lesson is to move on from the past, not let it rule you. As I said, the South Node has experiences to draw upon, and use. As you heal, you can draw upon your hurtful past, as it taught you a lot then you can move forward. As you do, you begin to share their unique insight with others. You learn to integrate Chiron and it is so much a part of your nature that you can draw upon it whenever another is in need of being helped. You aim your sights at the North Node and seem to attract people who can be helped by your Chiron.

On one level or another, as you heal, you can become a healer yourself. Carl Jung said that only someone who has been wounded can heal others, and if you have a lot of strength you can draw upon to do just that.
