Chiron and Pluto do not reach opposition often, but when they do they often continue that aspect for several years, creating what some call a sub-generation. In the past hundred years, they only were in opposition for one period, but everyone born from March 1961 through February 1966 have this aspect in their chart.
This aspect seems to express itself in one of two ways.
• In some natives it shows up as a great need to overcome some powerful inner hostility stemming from early childhood. This hostility may come from being constantly thwarted by parents, or from being a recipient of hostility from others in the environment. Whatever the cause, there are major lessons to learn about opening up, getting in touch with the inner rage, and then cleansing it once and for all from the system.
• In other persons, rather than anger, the expression is a need to win, to overcome obstacles and to beat any opponent. In both cases, you need to face the root of the hostility, or intensity, in order to bring about the needed healing.
It also gives a deep awareness of suffering, something you can put out of your mind but which never completely leaves you. I once read that we laugh at most jokes because it is a way to deal with the pain and suffering; we laugh because we can identify with the sorrow the object of the joke is experiencing and the laughter is a needed release.
Chiron opposition Pluto people often make excellent storytellers, and tellers of jokes, because of this powerful awareness.
Chiron Opposite Mercury
The combination brings the themes of mentoring, wounding and healing together with the image of your sibling. Perhaps your sibling fostered your spiritual development, encouraging you to be heroic. On the other hand your brother or sister may have been an agent of wounding. This could have manifested in many various ways like name-calling, abandonment or rejection. You may feel alienated or separated from your siblings, as if exiled from your community of peers. Literally, this image suggests a sibling that is handicapped in some way, an adopted sibling or the separation from your sibling through death or a schism in the family. While this not necessarily may be your experience, you may feel that you are separated from the others in some way. You might feel cut off from others due to communication having an early experience of wounding through communication, speaking a foreign language, distinct learning patterns or simply feeling misunderstood. Therefore your kindred spirits are unique and in communication and relationship you find the freedom that comes by not being identical to others. Through your adult relationships you are able to heal your earlier feelings of exclusion.

People who have this aspect are very much aware of other people, and of all the different levels that exist in any relationship. Because of this perceptiveness, you have great potential to help others through problems in relationships by focusing on what approaches need change. You are very much aware of what people want on many different levels and usually know how to give it to them.,and you are capable of using this awareness to control, even reshape other human beings. But you have many lessons to learn in relationships in which you are personally involved. As you heal from your wound your attitudes can run the gamut from general distrust of others, to looking down on others, to simply wanting to separate yourself altogether from society. The more you heal, the more lessons it seems you have to learn, especially about when to adjust, when to compromise, when to stay firm.
On a more positive plane, you develop some unique style in everything you do, working with reality in such a manner that it seems you become its master.

You have a real feel for the NOW! for what is needed at the present moment in whatever field you enter. It is as if you can tune in to some subtle message that tells you ‘now is the time to do this particular thing’.
However, with this aspect, there is a danger of getting stuck in that pattern, of staying with that vibration, even though it is time to move on to something else. You have major lessons to learn about adaptation and versatility.
Positively, if you can tune into the undercurrents, you can BECOME the vibrations, you can understand them so thoroughly that you identify with them, and other people will begin to identify them that way too. But you must learn to move on to another level, another role.
The wound felt from this aspect can, however, cause you to misuse the ability it gives you; for while you are in tune with the vibrations, you can, if you so choose, use this attunement to control other people. As you heal, though, this transforms into an ability to guide others rather than control them. If you learn to be adaptable, you are then capable of teaching others, and teaching others to grow and adapt.
