Your Sun Sign

Sun in Aries

Aries represents the stamina to challenge what is not right but also the spirit to forge what is. Aries is the warrior; in a spiritual sense the one who has the courage to uphold his or her principles and the one who is the soldier of the true self. With Sun in Aries your labours are to find the courage of your convictions and the strength to sanction them. What is honourable about you is the ability to challenge what is not right, to compete for what is and find the courage to face the confrontation. When you are in touch with your honour, you are capable of summoning the strength to act with bravery and champion what is noble. You are invigorated when challenged and your spirituality develops through withstanding the moral and ethical trials of life.

Your spirit cherishes its independence and welcomes challenges. You enjoy creative projects, pioneering new experiments and exploring unchartered territory. Being on the starting line you are animated by the spirit of adventure and brought to life by challenges and possibilities. Innocence and naïveté are helpful attributes as you are able to put the disappointments and failures of any project behind you and get on with a new idea or project. Taking a chance, exploring new frontiers and risking the security of what is not known demand an act of courage. Therefore you are likely to be a pioneer in your profession, perhaps breaking new ground in your chosen career, or perhaps by choosing a career on the cutting edge. You are a self-starter and therefore starting your own business, working on your own or any form of self-employment may appeal.

It is a combination of toughness and affection that allows you to be a firebrand on one hand and an idealist on the other. The compound of these two attitudes creates an advocate who champions the underdog, the conqueror who liberates the oppressed and the hero who scores the winning goal. In an etymological context courage is connected to the heart, since the ancient notion linked the force of will and character to the heart. Braveheart personifies your gift of courage. Like the heart which pumps blood through the body, your energetic spirit vitalises your soul in the world to be brave and claim what is rightfully yours. While you bravely face the worries and burdens of everyday life your alter ego, Captain Courageous, is active in the world championing the oppressed and liberating the downtrodden. To find your vitality and spirit and to feel soulful in the world you need to strive to find the qualities of assertiveness, bravery, enthusiasm, independence, initiative and inspiration on your vocational path.

Without order or coherence you are prone to worry, anxious about what might happen. You are so acutely aware of what may possibly go wrong that your body often bears the stress, making it imperative to create the rituals of an everyday life through work and health. Your Rising Sign

Ascendant in Leo

When you Ascendant is in the Zodiac Sign of Leo then you’re usually assured of your own purpose in life. You're charming, generous and ambitious, enjoying a sense of autonomy in all that you do. You're adept at organising your own life, and enjoy the independence. Your main lesson is the right use of power. You have a lot of charisma and other people listen to you. You need to make sure that there is substance behind the charisma so that you head in the right direction and lead others in a way that benefits them. You are well aware of your own worth, and can help others determine their sense of well-being. You are also well aware of the way that money can be used to validate self-worth. Money may equate power in many of society’s social and political circles, but is this the right use of money? You have a vital and sunny nature and can achieve much good in the world as long as you are not focussed only on your own will. Your purpose is to learn to use your strength of character and strong will power in a positive and powerful manner. This way you can benefit others emotionally, spiritually and materialistically. A loving and generous use of money will help you stay on the right path to personal fulfilment. If you find yourself caught up in power battles over money then think of how much it would cost you to walk away. Ultimately your goal is to use your creativity. A creative or artistic alternative may provide more joy than continuing to battle over materialistic matters. With your Leo Ascendant you could use this affirmation from “Creating Money – Keys to Abundance”by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer “I create money and abundance through joy, aliveness, and self-love”

Planets in Signs

Mercury in Aries

The planet Mercury in the zodiac sign of Aries indicates that you're a single-minded individual, and tend to make up your own mind rather than rely on the ideas of others. In fact you're rather quick to jump to conclusions. Mostly this is a benefit in your education because you've an agile mind and are capable of making sharp decisions on the spot. You're an independent thinker often experiencing flashes of intuition which help you reach your conclusions quickly. Others admire your incisive mind. The only problem is that often you are so far ahead of others in your thoughts that you're easily bored as you wait for them to catch up. You need the stimulation of new intellectual challenges, and the freedom to forge ahead at the forefront of communication discoveries. You can be quite wilful, and need to be mindful of the fact that while others may be slower in their thinking, they can still make a positive contribution.

Venus in Gemini

With Venus in the sign of Gemini you're curious and flirtatious, and enjoy intellectual relationships with exchanges of ideas. Communication within a relationship is of utmost importance. You need to be on the same intellectual wave-length as your partner. It's not necessary that you agree on all subjects, but you must be able to openly and easily talk about everything. For this reason you also enjoy writing letters and notes, talking frequently on the phone and taking part in any other method of keeping the communication lines open on a daily basis. If you find yourself in a relationship which doesn't stimulate you mentally, you become bored and restless. It's also possible that you find yourself in the position of having to decide between two potential partners. You can be quite flirtatious, so perhaps you'll not want to decide but simply to enjoy two lovers. While this has its obvious excitement, it could also prove difficult in the long-run if you've to make a decision. When it comes to money matters, you also enjoy stimulation. You've many money-making schemes, and may dabble in the stock market. You may earn your money from two separate sources.

For these reasons you're often promoted to positions of authority and public prominence. You have a strong need to express your personal creativity, enjoying centre stage in most of your activities. You may even literally take centre stage in a theatrical performance or on a podium, as you have natural flair for the dramatic side of life. You've the planet Jupiter in the zodiac sign of Cancer in your birth chart indicating that you are an idealistic person, who has a strong humanitarian side to your nature. You want to take everyone under your wing, whether they be family members in trouble or victims of world disasters. You may feel the urge to travel overseas to take care of other people, possibly even becoming involved in a humanitarian or religious welfare group. It is also possible that you have a large family. If not your friends will become your family, and you've many friends. This depends on other influences in your birth chart. You're kind-hearted and popular and so attract friends from both the lower and higher echelons of society. Although you mean well, you do need to be wary of becoming too meddlesome in other people's affairs. You're likely to benefit from your connections with your loved ones, possibly through unexpected inheritances and legacies. Astrologically the planet Jupiter is considered to be in a favourable position in the sign of Cancer and therefore it is likely that you will achieve your goals.

In fact you could excel in any position which requires organisational abilities. In some cases you may feel torn between two pursuits, not sure which path to take in life. It's also possible that you could benefit from having two projects on the go at once. You prefer straight talk and can sometimes be accused of lacking tact. This doesn't overly concern you because of your belief that honesty is the best policy in the long term. You need to be careful because you could be deceived by others who are not as honest as you. Although you could suffer some difficulties through family members or financial investments, you're likely to achieve your ambitions, particularly in the intellectual fields.

Chiron in Gemini

Part of your experience could include a deep wounding that in some way relates to your intellectual capacity. Perhaps you experienced some sort of learning disability, or maybe you missed some schooling due to ill health, so part of you feels unsure of your intellectual ability and hence you strive to attain more information and knowledge. At some point you might feel you are intellectually inadequate, which can lead you to over-compensate by cramming your head full of information, facts and data.

At the same time you may feel a sense of stress that can stem from information overload, travel and mobility issues, or generally doing too much, which then leads problems such as recurring shoulder tension, colds, flu, asthma, bronchitis, chest and sinus conditions.

Learning new information can also be quite stressful for you and because it is painful, you might try to avoid it. Returning to study throughout life may be challenging for you, but it will also be highly rewarding and healing, and show you how to embrace your full potential. Teaching, writing or speaking could play a large role in your life. You are both student and teacher.

Make time to express your feelings, emotions and needs too. You will learn that communication comes in many forms, not just in words, facts and ideas. Healing begins when you stop trying to do ten things at once and keep an open mind.

Planets in Houses

Sun in 9th House

The progressed Sun moves slowly through the houses. The ninth house of your chart is currently emphasized indicating that you are keen to spread your wings and explore new horizons. Travel, religion, cultural pursuits, sports and philanthropy are all themes. You may also be keen to communicate some of your own life philosophies or publish an artistic or written work. You need to expand your horizons or you will feel imprisoned by other people's expectations and society's limitations. Knowledge is the key to wisdom and understanding.

Moon in 2nd house

The Moon is in your 2nd house of resources, suggesting that it is important for you to feel emotionally and financially secure. Both emotional and financial securities are intertwined and you can't have one without the other. Wealth is very much bound up with feeling safe, having a home place, family connections and familial possessions around you. Collecting and saving are in your blood and being surrounded by your things promotes a sense of well being. However you might also turn this instinct into your career, as you have the knack for collecting valuables, antiques, coins, stamps or any objects that have feeling, history or sentiment attached to them.

Vocationally the Moon suggests you could also earn your living in the caring professions, whether that is as a nurse, teacher, child or old age care, counsellor etc. However since the home is of great importance to you, you have a knack for knowing value when you see it. You might turn these skills to real estate or property development. Working from the home in your own business or family business may also be a possibility. In fact you might have inherited a family concern or be administrator of a family trust. Home and family play a major role in your financial affairs and lifestyle. Another way this might manifest is working in homes in a multitude of capacities, from handy work to decoration. It is important for you to recognise the large role that safety, familiarity and feeling play in making your living.

Accustomed to changing phases, the Moon brings her fluctuating influence into the realm of money. The natural tides of life will be experienced in your resources. Therefore it is important to remember that there are times of growth, times of inflation and time of recession. It is important to protect your resources as much as possible and promote a sense of safety. Worrying about fluctuations in currency, the stock market or interest rates can affect your feelings of safety and therefore it is best to insure that you feel as protected as possible against the tides of life. The secret to your success is your level of emotional well being. A strong family, a warm home and a familiar routine support your feeling secure.

Mercury in 9th House

The Messenger of the Gods is in the House of the Gods. As such your likely to experience a leap of faith during this period. This could mean that you experience a transcendental moment in your life, something that inspires you to take up a spiritual or artistic lifestyle. On a more practical note you may decide to travel, enter into academia or become involved in an international or multi-cultural cause. At first you may simply find yourself drawn to material (reading or media) that stretches your mind and interests. Gradually though you are likely to want to learn more, and perhaps change your life as a result. This is a period in your life where you can focus on the bigger picture rather than worrying about small details. The world news rather than local affairs is likely to attract your attention. If you are spiritually inclined then you may like to think of this as a time during which you can "feed your soul". It is certainly a period during which you can discover meaning and purpose in your life.

Venus in 10th house

In your 10th house you have Venus, the archetype connected to art, harmony and the urge to beautify. Therefore Venusian professions include specialists in art, art museum workers or curators, art or beauty therapists, models, fashion designers and promoters, perfume or cosmetic industries, the music industry, singers, interior decoration and design, gifts and crafts, florists, potters and theatre and set design. You innate style and culture could lead you into a myriad of professions that deal with fashion whether that is buying clothes or home furnishings or redecorating homes.

Venus is also inclined towards the development of social skills and interaction and is linked to professions which highlight these traits. Hospitality industries, community relations, hosting industries, hotel management, receptionist, wedding planners and caterers are under the domain of Venus. Professions which include diplomacy and protocol such as diplomats, ambassadors, customer services, lawyers, social arrangements, and personnel managers are also ruled by Venus, all careers which might be worth your consideration.

Venus is also connected with partnerships and working in a one-to-one situation. Venus in the 10th house suggests careers that involve partnerships, as a counterpart to another, working in close affiliation with others or in a profession which complements others. These could include counselling especially career counselling or relationship therapy, tutors, business partnerships, personal recruitment, personal assistant or secretarial work. You may also be inclined to work in industries that promote a sense of worth, whether that is in a psychological or economical way. For instance you may have innate skills at personal coaching or investment strategies. You might find that you have an innate skill in dealing with money, helping others to become more financially aware and/or secure.

As the ruler of Taurus and the 2nd house, Venus is also linked to professions involving finance as well as agriculture. Using the senses and the creative flair are also important a vocation and Venus in the 10th may derive satisfaction from massage, aromatherapy, food and wine merchants and connoisseurs. You might be drawn to working with the senses. Whatever your passion is you will incorporate your own sense of style and grace into whatever you do

Mars in 12th House

During this period you are likely to benefit from periods of isolation. Even the more extraverted of people is likely to feel the urge for quiet retreat during this phase. It is time to slow down and focus on the more spiritual aspects of life. Otherwise you may find yourself ousted from positions of authority, or thwarted by other people. This can happily coincide with a wish to spend more time in relaxation, contemplation and behind the scenes work. However, it can prove difficult if you have become accustomed to the limelight. The more that you can turn this to your advantage the better. Think of a Hollywood actor or actress who has spent his or her youth commanding centre stage on the big screen. This change could coincide with a wish to become a film producer or director instead. Occasionally it can coincide with retirement.

Jupiter in 12th House

Jupiter is also in the 12th House of your chart signifying that in life's most despairing moments you've the ability to dig deep into a well of optimism and overcome all difficulties. You're a kind-hearted person who likes to help anyone who is suffering, perhaps even working in a charitable organisation. You're more likely to work behind the scenes rather than taking on a public role, refusing to accept public accolades. Nevertheless your good works don't go unnoticed and you're likely to benefit in other ways. It's possible that you work in an institution such as a hospital or museum, where you can work quietly and unobserved. If you do have an active public life, then you benefit greatly from extended periods of time spent in seclusion. You've a great respect for ancient wisdom, the spiritual teachings of past civilisations. Secret societies may also play a beneficial role in your life. Although you may suffer setbacks during your life, these are followed by successful periods.

Saturn in 10th house

Saturn is in your 10th house. The archetype of Saturn tends towards perfection and represents the need to excel. Often this is a defensive position which stems from innate feelings of not being ‘good enough’. Therefore with Saturn in your 10th house, you are motivated to try even harder. Professions which encourage a need for excellence and precision can direct some of this energy; however you need to be aware of your perfectionist tendency and how it inhibits your freedom to be creative and accepting. You are ambitious to do your best. In the early stages of life the drive for success may be denied. When the need for perfection becomes compulsive you might get caught in your workaholic temperament, which is often triggered through feeling inadequate or not measuring up. Another manifestation may also be that you rebel against success, as this is your grand mutiny against the oppressive forces of tradition and expectation that you experienced. Or you might be caught in the paradox of wanting to be successful but fearing it as well. You will recognise the tension that exists between the fear of failure and the fear of success.

With Saturn in the 10th house you were aware from a young age of the expectations that were placed upon you and the role that was being forged for you in the world. This feels stifling and oppressive at times. However, to rebel against this tradition and responsibility would be an act against your self, because when your defensiveness is stripped away, you have innate ambition and an authentic urge to succeed. Moreover you also have the self-sufficiency and incentive to do well. Therefore the labour of Saturn in the 10th house is to shape your own autonomy and become your own authority. While your profession path will include working for others, you probably feel more satisfied being self-employed. Respecting your boss is difficult when you fid that you may be more dedicated and competent than them.

Occupations allowing a sense of authority therefore are important for you. Your need for responsibility and autonomy is high. Positions such as executives, surgeons, technicians, scientists, corporate managers, school principals, teachers, law makers, politicians, and councillors could fulfill this need. However self employment and direction would also suit your need for autonomy in the world.

Saturn is also associated with many ‘trades’ especially the building trades but also may be connected to agriculture and real estate. Contractors, bricklayers, builders, gardeners and landscape design, architecture and building design, construction industry, labourers, real estate dealers, land developers, engineers are under the jurisdiction of Saturn. The need for hierarchy is important to Saturn, as is the need to respect their superiors. With your need for autonomy and authority, a common pattern might be conflicting with management when trying to attain a position of influence and control. Your bosses and superiors are your challenges which help you find your own inner authority and confidence.

Uranus in 2nd house

Ultimately wealth and independence are entwined and when you are self-reliant you feel affluent. With Uranus in your 2nd house it is important to be aware that your approach to money and possessions could be quite unconventional, as this planet is known for its rebelliousness and nonconformity. This planet also signifies unpredictability and surprises. In the 2nd house this could suggest sudden changes of fortune. Therefore it would be important to consider how you might bring your unique skills and specialised talents to your career path in order to feel more comfortable on the wheel of fortune. You might forge your own independent route choosing to make your living outside convention or in an unconventional way. Or it could also suggest working in an environment that is futuristic, cutting-edge or ahead of its time. Another possibility is that you might find that you earn your income in a humanitarian way, working to improve the human condition or the state of the earth. Whatever road you take into the world of work, it needs to be a road less travelled.

Finding your own distinctive path that has not been trampled upon suggests that you will need to tap into your uniqueness and inventiveness. You are ingenious and can use your imagination to forge your way. Vocationally you are well suited to fields of endeavour that are unusual, ones that have not even been thought of yet. Therefore you are comfortable being on the edge of change, helping forge new directions and advancements. A career in technology might suit especially if you are helping revolutionise attitudes to work or helping create solutions for the future. Or politics is another sphere where you can use your vision and your protest to create change. Revolutionising the human experience is also akin to this astrological statement. Therefore whether you are attracted to science or the liberal arts, you feel the need to help advance human understanding and equality. You have an altruistic streak that needs expression in your vocation.

Uranus in the 2nd also reveals your attitudes towards money and possessions. Again this may be unusual or at least out of the ordinary. Your attitudes to material assets and financial security may fluctuate and change considerably. Or you might also unexpectedly receive money. It is important to consider your attitudes to money as they might be unconsciously contributing to financial worries. Ironically you need money to help you feel independent; therefore it is in your best interest to find ways to make this possible. You might find you have an uncanny knack at picking the right shares, making astute investments or being clever at financial planning. Reflect on original ways to make money. You have an inventive streak, which is a resource. Discover how this might work best for you. Ultimately you have the ability to be detached from the material world. This is important as this helps you feel relaxed and confident that you have enough resources.

Neptune in 10th house

In your 10th house you have Neptune, which suggests you are called to seek a vocation that will satisfy the creative yearnings, the soulful urges and the need to be of service to others. Your career path is not clear, nor can you expect it to be. However what you can expect is that you will be caught up in the chaos of life and need to learn to feel at peace with letting this take you where you need to go. There is a greater intelligence at work in designing your vocation.

Wherever Neptune is located in the horoscope you experience the urge to be in contact with the divine. Being in the 10th house of your horoscope suggests you seek the divine in your vocation and follows its calling into the world. Of all the planets Neptune resonates with the longing to find soul, since it feels trapped and suffocated by the mundane, literal and tedious aspects of life. It longs for connection, and often languishes in a sense of divine discontent. Its urge to embrace or surrender to the divine manifests in longing, idealisation, fantasy and is often experienced as a calling to help others. Hence in vocational pursuits Neptune longs to help or find a way to express the divine. There are two main paths Neptune can express itself in a career.

The first is through the helping professions where the individual must surrender their own ego needs for others. The helping profession can include a wide spectrum of occupations, such as nursing, social work, hospital work, psychology, working with physically disabled or mentally handicapped individuals, the ministry and other spiritual vocations. Working with the elderly, the poor, the sick or the underprivileged, volunteer work, and all the intuitive vocations such as clairvoyants, psychic and spiritual healers, dream and image therapists all appeal to this archetype. Neptune is also associated with the drug and chemical industries and careers in pharmacology, as chemists, with oils & essences, in drug & alcohol rehabilitation or as a psychiatrist reflect this connection.

The other path is expressing the divine through your inspiration, creativity and artistic calling. Poets, artists, musicians, photography and camera work, film and video industry, dance, fashion and glamour industries satisfy some of the creative urges of Neptune. With Neptune in your 10th you may have the soul of an artist whose fate is often to suffer in a world that is devoid of soul. Part of the fate of Neptune in the 10th is to feel that you do not belong in the world, yet your destiny waits in the world. Rather than being caught in the exhaustion of ambivalence it is helpful to realise you need to express your creativity in the world, not expect the world to be your muse.

Mythological Neptune also ruled the seas and there may be a deep yearning to work with the sea in a variety of ways such as oceanography, in other aquatic occupations, boating or ships. However this is often metaphoric of the deep urge to express feeling and soulfulness in the world. With Neptune in your vocational sector you may have to surrender your expectations in order to find the path right for you.

Pluto in 10th house

In your 10th house you have the planet Pluto, whose realm is the underworld, the mythological sphere where treasures and riches were buried. Pluto’s name means riches and wherever Pluto is in the horoscope you will be empowered to find the buried treasure. However, this place is also the ‘door to Dis’; Dis, being the Roman name for the underworld god. Therefore this is where you may locate the subterranean feelings which have been unexpressed in your family, suggesting that your vocational path may be littered with the shades, ghosts and secrets of your familial past. Yet it also suggests that you are uncovering valuables and riches not experienced before in your family.

Pluto is associated with loss, unexpressed grief, traumatic and shameful feelings, secrets as well as a host of unacceptable feelings such as anger, rage, resentment, jealousy, envy etc. In a vocational sense, Pluto often deals with vocations which dig deep down, either into the literal ground, or into the psychic ground of an individual to locate the truth and encourage the release of the repressed. Hence psychotherapy, oncology and bereavement counselling are all vocational descriptions which are worth considering. Pluto rules research and investigative vocations such as depth psychology, doctors, loss and grief practitioners, bereavement counsellors, work in the mines, subways or underground, plumbing, medical researchers, investigative reporting, police and governmental undercover agencies, detectives, archaeologists. All these vocations would be consistent with this image in your horoscope.

Pluto is also the realm of the dead and in a vocational sense you might be involved with this literal realm or careers where the cycle of destruction and renewal is prevalent. Burials, undertaking professions, coroners, mortuary work, wills and legal vocations concerning inheritances, the dead and the rights of the dead, insurance agents, demolition and renovation work would be consistent with this image. The power of Pluto to influence the masses and transform public opinion is reflected in careers like marketing researchers, media and vocations of influence, politics, police work, big business and government.

One of the main dilemmas with this placement is that your solitude and need to be alone is placed in the path of your career. This might suggest you have ambivalence about being public or known; however, it also reinforces the need to find your privacy and solitude in your working life. With Pluto on your Midheaven your destiny will involve you with people in powerful positions, influential businesses and transforming occupations. It is important for you to recognise that you make an impact on your world even if you are unaware of it.

;PLANETS ON MC/IC

NorthNode in 3rd House

The North Node in the 3rd house brings the issues of how we coordinate and collate information to make sense of it rationally, so that we can communicate it effectively to others in our environment. This task is important since you need to know that the world around you is not haphazard and that you are not pursuing pointless connections or unnecessary detours. This suggests you need to be cognizant of the immediate environment and its boundaries exploring its environs before you feel confident enough. Curiosity and interest are prompts you can use to help expand your territory and push the boundaries, but it is important not to be sidetracked by impossible schemes, vague philosophies or charismatic ideals. Finding your place in any system is important. Originally this may have been with your siblings or friends; however vocationally it is important to be aware of your place in the corporation and with co-workers and colleagues. The culture of the work place is an important consideration for you and therefore you might take some time before you settle into a routine. Your early work experience is broad and you might have to exhaust some wanderlust before you can establish yourself professionally.

Naturally you have a worldly intelligence. You instinctually understand cultural and philosophical complexities and are more comfortable than most with the bigger picture. You might feel like a citizen of the world, not bound to your place of origin. Vocationally you may be challenged to express and disseminate this understanding, whether that is through written or oral communication, the creative arts or another class of dissemination or broadcasting. One of your developmental tasks expressed through your vocation will be to challenge yourself to be articulate about what you know. Like a journalist you may find yourself expressing the complexities of human nature to others who do not have your level of understanding and far sightedness. Your nodal invitation is to express your vast understanding in a succinct and everyday language. You are drawn to the mystical and metaphysical sphere but your destiny is to translate the imaginative into the practical.

Chiron in 10th house

While Chiron is not categorised as a planet, its archetypal influence is important to consider. Being in your 10th house, Chiron symbolises the professional encounter with healing and commemorates your exclusive role in the world. While you might feel marginal in your career aspirations, foreign to what others strive for, even an outsider in your system, you have a distinctive role to play. Chiron’s cave on Mount Pelion was the place where young, homeless and orphaned boys were initiated into the ways of the hero. With Chiron they were reminded of their birthright and were schooled in the arts of heroism and healing. In classical myth Chiron is the ancient link to the archetype of the healer/hero and reminds us of traditions that linked the mystical with the mundane or the spirit with the body. It was also reminiscent of the heroic urge to heal the self. In contemporary times Chiron symbolises this quest for wholeness, individuation and the attempts to repair the split between the body and the soul. Hence in vocational pursuits Chiron tends towards the healing professions that address the need to reconcile the body/mind split. Having this archetype strongly placed in your vocational sector, you may feel drawn to the healing arts, especially complementary and alternative medicine and healing.

With Chiron in the 10th house there is a myriad of possible paths to find your way into healing. Holistic healing professions including naturopathy, homeopathy, herbalism, chiropractors, Chinese medicine and all alternate healing practices which attempt to work with body and mind, dream therapists, channels, Reiki and other new age healing modalities, astrologers and others working with imagery and symbols as a healing tool are all resonant with this placement in your horoscope. Chiron was also a mentor and teacher and therefore you may also be drawn to mentoring professions such as life coaches, mentors, inspirational teachers, meditation instruction or health education.

As a foster figure Chiron is also associated with the marginalized and therefore professions which work with refugees, the homeless, the handicapped and vocations which aid the underprivileged and the outcast are ways you might feel called. The 10th house is your pathway into the world and when you are in public life you feel drawn to the wounded. You are likely to be the person who donates a coin to a passing beggar, or you might feel compelled to work for a charity or organisation that helps the less fortunate. Whether this is through social work, a caring or medical profession, trauma counselling or even private practice, you find your capacity to heal is drawn up from your own wounds. With Chiron in the 10th your innate capacity to heal and your intrinsic understanding of trauma is forged through your own experience. Ironically it is your own wounds and complexities that call you to be a healer and educator. For many of the same reasons you are also likely to be in synch with the objectives of workers' unions, or international protection groups. In other words your need to be a champion of the underdog is reflected in your choice of career, whether this is a worker, mentor or teacher looking after your flock or literally working with the underprivileged.

Nodes

NorthNode in Libra

You were born with the North Node in the sign of Libra and the South Node in the opposite sign, Aries suggesting you are heroic by nature, but you are now invited to be more aware of others, to be diplomatic and mindful of other's feelings. Your inner warrior needs to be gentle and your urge to crusade for noble and just causes needs to integrate a diplomatic point of view. The dragon you battle is the passionate and independent impulses that pull you back to your individualistic standpoint. Your goal of peace is not accomplished through fighting and confronting others, but by forging relationship and partnership with those who once were the enemy. You have inherited a fiery and independent will, knowing what you want and how to go and get it. However to feel that your life has meaning and purpose you need to use your action-orientated spirit in a cooperative fashion for the good of others. You are a crusader but now for others; you are a fire fighter but now you fan the flames of life in others. Learning to stand outside yourself helps you forge relationship and a cooperative spirit of equality.

The spirit you have inherited needs to feel free to take action without relating to authority or being bound by rules and regulations. Its need for independence, including the need to make its own decisions, is high therefore you thrive in a vocation that encourages an independent and enterprising personality. When you trust your own integrity and motives your entrepreneurial spirit is a boon for everyone. Vocationally this independent spirit is a vessel for others and when you join in partnership, you help your partner and colleagues to become successful and fulfilled. The classic storyline may be that your partner is recognised for his or her success, but make no mistake that you have played a leading role. Your need to feel able to act independently in the world is paramount, yet your destiny is that you must learn to temper this in relationship. Therefore you are successful at being out front when you have another's interests at heart.

Self-image is important and personal identity needs to be a focus in any career path. Vocations utilising and encouraging the personality and identity are appropriate. You are self-motivated but also driven by competition and challenges from others, working best in partnership. And when you utilise your innate pioneering spirit you will find yourself initiating projects which help others. You have the knack for working in a managerial portfolio and your vision and motivation inspire others. Life may lead you in a direction where your tendency towards relating leads towards counselling professions. You develop the capacity to listen to others, a skill you use successfully in counselling and training. You can develop that ability of reflection, which draws individuals out of themselves and helps them get what they want.

Sun Soft Neptune

You're likely to have many dreams about what you would like to achieve in your life because the Sun is making contact with the planet Neptune in your birth chart. Your ability to achieve these dreams depends largely on other influences. There's no doubt that you're intuitive and talented, but other aspects of your chart will indicate whether or not you've the practical ability needed to ensure success in a sometimes harsh world. You're a sympathetic and kind person, who generously enjoys supporting other people in achieving their life goals. This could range from offering a sympathetic ear to other people's troubles to working for a charitable institution. You're wise in the ways of the spiritual world, feeling at home in the imaginative and esoteric realms. It's the harsh realities of the material world that you find confusing. This is probably because of your highly-sensitive nature, which is so in tune with the emotional and spiritual aspects of life. You're easily emotionally influenced by other people and circumstances, and should therefore take care to surround yourself with positive and uplifting friends. You're also likely to be sensitive to the physical world, reacting to drugs or suffering from allergies. For this reason you should take care with your diet and avoid addictive drugs. It's important that you create moments for quiet reflection, communing with nature, or listening to beautiful music. The ocean could play a particularly important role in your life, inspiring or soothing your sensitive nature. You need to have some freedom to daydream and to pursue your artistic talents. This is essential if you're to achieve your life goals.

Sun Hard Jupiter

The Sun is making contact with the planet Jupiter in your birth chart indicating that you've the ability to achieve your life goals, but the path isn't always easy. On the positive side you are optimistic and enthusiastic and are likely to encounter good fortune at some stage during your life. It's possible that a father or grandfather figure gives you a helping hand towards achieving your goals. However, you've a tendency to jeopardise your own success through being grandiose in your goals and plans. You've an overly-optimistic and idealistic approach to life, which prevents you from making a realistic appraisal of most situations. You can be restless, needing excitement and adventure, finding it difficult to commit to a course of action or to settle in one place. Depending on other influences in your chart you're the typical ideas person who has difficulty putting in the hard work needed to achieve a finished product. Your challenge is to find a balance between stability and adventure. "Moderation in all things" could be a good motto to remind you to curb your excesses. Once you've learned self-restraint then you're able to reach all of your goals.

Moon Soft Neptune

The Moon and the planet Neptune are connected in your birth chart indicating that you're a soft, imaginative and sensitive person, who needs a peaceful home environment. Your home needs to be your haven from the world because at times you feel overwhelmed by the harsh realities of the world, and you need to shut away. If this isn't possible then it's likely that you'll be distressed and confused. It's true that you live in a fantasy world. Family members may have stories about your daydreaming ways as a child, which continue well into adulthood. It's also possible that your loved ones feel the need to bring you back down to earth, believing that this will help you cope with the world. Nevertheless you've learned to trust your own instincts, telling you of a need to escape somewhere to dream, even if it's only one room. In this case a room with a beautiful view would definitely appeal to your aesthetic nature. Your imagination is important in helping you to develop your artistic or spiritual gifts. It's likely that your relationship with your mother, grandmother, or an important woman has played a key role in helping you develop the imaginative side of your nature. Perhaps this woman had artistic or spiritual gifts, or encouraged your own talents. It's likely that, although you've an idealised picture in your mind of this woman, that she has had a positive effect on your life. Your house may also be a restful haven for your loved ones, because you've a flair for creating a peaceful environment. Perhaps you also have artistic talents, which can be displayed in your home. You may find a great sense of satisfaction in living close to water.

Moon Trine Neptune

During this period you are more sensitive to other people and your surroundings. You may feel the urge to pursue a more spiritual path, perhaps rejoining a former religion or joining a new spiritual group. Alternatively you may be drawn to creative or artistic expression. During this period you are more likely to remember your dreams. They may be more vivid, carrying messages for your waking life. Your perceptions are changing in subtle ways. You are rather like the butterfly that is emerging from the cocoon. Enjoy the new emerging you. As a result you will discover new depths and meanings that colour your life.

Mercury Hard Jupiter

The planet Mercury is making an unfavourable aspect to the planet Jupiter in your chart indicating that you're likely to encounter obstacles in your education. This could be for a number of reasons. Perhaps you've so many ideas and plans that you're not sure which ones to follow, and as a result never seem to get started. It's also possible that you've many unfinished projects, because your attention span is limited. Perhaps you lack good judgement. In all of these scenarios your intentions are good, but you lack the discipline to accomplish your goals. You make promises you can't keep and are prone to exaggeration. As a result your credibility is generally low. You may even become the subject of scandal and gossip. Of course this all depends on other influences in your chart. And the good news is that you learn a great deal from your mistakes, growing older and wiser with each passing year. As a result you're likely to overcome your obstacles, and achieve your goals, particularly in the areas of communication and education. It's also possible that you choose to communicate your experience through teaching, writing or public speaking.

Mercury Hard Uranus

The planets Mercury and Uranus are making unfavourable contact in your birth chart indicating that your education and communications with other people are fraught with difficulty. Although you've an active and intelligent mind, you've so many original thoughts and ideas that you find it difficult to express them. This is true for your verbal and written communications. You also have trouble concentrating for long periods of time, needing the stimulation of constant change and new topics of interest. For these reasons you're likely to encounter problems in your early childhood education, particularly if you attend a school that has a traditional approach to education. You're more likely to shine in an education system which encourages independent and free thinking. At any age you're likely to react to authority figures, showing a defiant and audacious attitude. Perhaps you don't realise that you've a tendency to thrust your own radical thoughts and ideas onto other people, without listening to their own opinions. You wilfully defend your right to have different views and can fail to appreciate other people's points of view. You need to learn to respect all forms of communication and thinking. You don't mean to be thoughtless, it's simply that you're so often restless in your search for stimulation. One of your major struggles in life is with discontentment. In fact you may be ahead of your time in your thoughts, ideas and opinions. With a little patience and tolerance, you'll be successful in helping others understand your unique and innovative ideas. Writing, publishing, advertising, science, astrology and electrical affairs may all be of interest, although any unusual subject will catch your attention.

Venus Soft Uranus

The planets Venus and Uranus are connected in your birth chart indicating that you value freedom and individuality in your most intimate relationships. In fact you're determined to be recognised as an individual by your primary partner, sometimes to the extent that you won't allow anyone to curb your sense of freedom. You're attracted to an unusual, active or lively partner, rather than someone staid. For this reason your primary partner is likely to be inventive, extraordinary or involved in an unusual occupation. This isn't everyone's idea of an ideal partner, but it suits you. You seek spontaneity and intellectual stimulation from your primary relationship. Depending on other influences in your chart, commitment isn't a major part of your vocabulary, and can be something that you tend to avoid, preferring to be "footloose and fancy free". It's likely that you're afraid of losing your independence, or perhaps you simply don't like the confines of a conventional relationship. Fortunately you're likely to have many friends and potential partners. Your bright and magnetic personality attracts potential life partners like moths to a flame. You enjoy socialising and have a wide circle of friends, and believe that it's important that a life partner share your friendships. Your best friend should be your partner, as far as you're concerned.

Venus Soft Mars

The planets Venus and Mars are combining in your chart indicating that you seek a stimulating and romantic relationship. You're charming and assertive, passionate and alive, and admire these qualities in a potential intimate partner. You love to share your adventures with your partner, and it's likely that your relationship will inspire both you and your partner to explore new territory. You need only be wary of holding unrealistically high expectations of your partner, as this can lead to difficulties. This is more likely to be the case when you're young and idealistic. You're liable to disappointment, perhaps even angry feelings, when your partner fails to live up to your expectations. You could also feel angry if rejected in love. Fortunately you've an irrepressible side to your nature, on which you can rely in times of relationship trouble. You're a loyal and fun-loving partner with an ability to balance intimacy with independence.

Mars Soft Saturn

You're confident and diligent, capable of driving yourself and others to achieve your objectives. This is because the planets Mars and Saturn are connected in your chart. You're motivated by the thought of achievement, and are likely to succeed through hard work. In fact you're determined to succeed in certain areas of your life. Your will power can be indomitable, particularly when you've determined on a course of action. A good organiser, you need to be careful to work in co-operation with other people rather than try to force them to follow your methods. You may not realise that your own high standards are not achievable by everyone. Self discipline and hard work come easily to you, but not necessarily to other people. You're self-reliant and it's possible that you enjoy working on your own rather than with other people. On the whole your physique is strong, enabling you to endure long hours of work and concentrated effort. Therefore you're likely to feel frustrated on the occasions when your physical resources have run out. There's no need to worry because slowly and surely your energy and drive returns enabling you to continue on the road to success. You may also be closely involved with a legacy from your father or your father's family. Whether or not you benefit from this legacy depends on other influences in your chart.

Jupiter Soft Pluto

The planets Jupiter and Pluto are making contact in your chart indicating that you've the enthusiasm to live life to the fullest and are likely to succeed in reaching your objectives. You are inclined to think big when tackling projects, preferring the satisfaction that follows the accomplishment of large projects. Whatever project you tackle, you do it in a big way. It's likely that you've many goals in life because you're progressive and ambitious, eager to make the most of opportunities that come your way. What you lack in attention to detail you gain in enthusiasm and energy. You're a natural-born leader or teacher, inspiring others with your grand schemes. You may teach a classroom of adults or children, or on a one-to-one basis or you may simply inspire others by example. You need only to be careful to keep your ego under control, and to make sure that you're not too grandiose. You're likely to succeed in achieving many of your hopes and wishes.

Jupiter Soft Uranus

The planets Jupiter and Uranus are making a positive aspect in your birth chart suggesting that you're enthusiastic about new ideas and are always keen to learn about different subjects, whether through study or experience. At times your enthusiasm knows no bounds, leading you in to unexplored territory. This can be exciting and a little frightening! You've an enormous ability and energy to achieve your goals, which are likely to be linked to your belief in making a positive contribution to society. These goals may or may not be realistic, depending on your circumstances and other influences in your birth chart. It's possible that you can contribute to a grand-scale beneficial scheme, but you would also do well to remember that each individual's life can have a positive effect on the world. You've a tendency to be grandiose, and don't take well to being restricted by other people or circumstances. Fortunately your inventive nature means that you can adapt to most circumstances, rather than forcing conflict. Traditional or unorthodox religious beliefs could play a major role in motivating your life goals, and helping you achieve your objectives. Metaphysics, astrology, and science may also prove your forte.

Saturn soft Mars

A favourable combination of the planets Saturn and Mars indicates that you're likely to rise to power in your profession, but the road to success requires hard work and self-discipline. Depending on other influences in your chart you could excel in business, military occupations, construction work, industry, manufacturing, or official government work. A career in business could also be rewarding, particularly self-employment.

Uranus Soft Pluto

The planets Uranus and Pluto both move slowly through the zodiac, and therefore any connection between the two planets affects birth charts for a short period of time. You were born in such a time meaning that you feel the urge to bring about revolutionary change in your life and those of your friends, colleagues and society. You've high ideals and the creative energy to implement changes. You may be curious about metaphysical matters, science and global affairs.

Uranus Soft Neptune

The planets Uranus and Neptune are combining in your chart suggesting that your creative urges are strong. You enjoy exploring new territory, either through studying or travelling and your talents may lie in writing, healing, social welfare, healing or spiritual fields. You may be keen to explore metaphysical matters, perhaps even belonging to a secret society or a group dedicated to global healing, charity or spirituality. Your psychic abilities and intuition are likely to be heightened, and this may help you explore your creativity.

Uranus trine Neptune

With Uranus Trine Neptune, you experience a gentle intuitive link between Zadkiel and Tamiel. Zadkiel is the Angel of Death, and Tamiel of Dreams. Together they extend your understanding of the nature of life and its limits. They also reveal the many ways you can change your life through skillful action.

You have a natural love of ritual. You find, when you think about it, that ritual pervades everything you do. You get along with other people very well because you observe the steps of ritual, entering into each conversation, activity, or association according to socially or culturally defined rules, and in so doing you put other people at ease without undo fuss or bother.

You can develop subconscious talents through conscious expression. In concert with your Angels, you express little pieces of your subconscious awareness in conversation or action. As you do this, you affirm your less conscious abilities and honor them and your Angels. Then your mind is better able to provide ideas and feelings to aid your work.

Inspired idealism may not be what you think you have been looking for, but you are certain to find it eventually. Your Angels send you dreams and ideas all the time, and you have only to pay attention to them. Your idealism provides a foundation for you to help others who experience major disasters or transformations in their lives. When you or others experience loss, your Angels are ready and willing to lift you up.

A potential weakness is the lack of stamina. Physical exercise to build lung capacity and muscle strength is well worth the effort. The physical strength you gain provides a foundation for emotional and spiritual strength.

For mental strength, meditation or yoga provide an organized practice. Kundalini yoga provides a medium for mental focus as well as physical exercise, building all the structures you need to support your developing psychic awareness.

Another possible weakness of structure could lead to high blood pressure and its associated ailments. The above mentioned exercise, meditation, and yoga all serve to reduce blood pressure and strengthen the system so as to avoid dangers of stroke and heart ailments.

Heightened psychic states including clairvoyance are the norm for this combination.

Neptune Square Ascendant

This planet progresses very slowly throughout your lifetime. Therefore you are likely to have this aspect in your birth chart. This progression may emphasise your urge to express the intuitive and artistic side of your personality.

Chiron trine Uranus

If you have Chiron trine Uranus you are part of a small, select group of people, born either between 1945–1946, or 1994–1995. This aspect does not in itself denote a wound, but it does show something that can stir up any that you may have: anything that tests, or questions, your integrity.

You cannot stand being involved in any tasks, job, or career that puts your basic integrity into question, and you would be willing to leave such a situation because of this. Less than honest, or less than honourable circumstances that might force you to be untrue to your own principles are totally unacceptable, and you would have no problem leaving to go elsewhere. You can deal with situations which may not be totally open and above-board, as long as they do not force you to put your motto, ‘To thine own self be true’ in jeopardy.

Another side to this aspect is that you may have major lessons to learn about admitting you are wrong about something, not only to other people, also to yourself as well.

One of the positive sides to this aspect is that it gives you an ability, if you tap into it, be able to fit square pegs into round holes (and vice versa.) Because this is a trine between the planet that likes to shatter the status quo (Uranus), and the one that looks for doorways beyond the present limits (Chiron), you have a good sense of when to work within the current structure making changes, versus when the current structure needs to be broken apart to make way for something better.

And it is very common for this aspect to be found in people who are attracted to careers which other people may feel are out of character.

Chiron conjunct Pluto

If you have Chiron conjunct Pluto you are part of a small, select group of people, born either in 1941, or during 1999–2000. These two bodies have a connection; Joyce Mason called them ‘The Comet Brothers’ because they share many qualities of a comet nucleus, waiting to transform into a full-fledged comet.

Pluto’s urge to bring about total transformation is focused through Chiron, giving you a highly specific area where you feel transformation must occur. The natal House where this conjunction falls is where you will concentrate this powerful urge for transmutation.

This aspect is a powerful push on you to evolve, to become more, and to grow. But human nature being what it is, you must not let yourself be drawn to the darker side of your nature and have the urge to take control of everything (and everyone) around you; try and determine how change ‘for the better’can be manifested.

As you follow the path to grow, and transform yourself, you develop the focus of a symbolic laser, enabling you to cut away that which has lost its value; then taking what is left, rearranging it and making it work in a brand new way, unlike anything that has gone before. Following the highest path, you can turn this focus on the world around you to make it a better place, once you rise above any personal need to control at all costs.

This aspect also enables you to tune in and focus on hidden or obscure data and bring them to the surface. Pluto always intensifies and in this case, it intensifies your need to follow your own path, and the need to seek out what needs to be changed in the pursuit of wholeness. You are very much aware of the general pains afflicting humanity, as well as the deep need of mankind to find solutions to our basic problems, to find release from humanities pain in some way.

Chiron conjunct Venus

This aspect gives, potentially, a great deal of love which comes spontaneously from you, which you can use as a real healing influence, giving most to those most in need. You have so much love, and caring, to give; others may think you give way too much in a relationship and don’t think enough about yourself. To some extent this is true, because no matter how giving you are you never feel it is enough.

But the flip side is that you are extremely vulnerable to being easily hurt, your love is given without strings or expectations, and perhaps without any defenses at all. It is, potentially, a very idealistic position. To quote from a popular song, ‘The world was not made for one as beautiful as you.’ If the aspect expresses itself this way, it is a painful lesson you gradually learn about what the world is like, so that you can deal with situations realistically, and still give out love.

Venus rules, among other things, what you truly value, especially in yourself; your self-worth and here is where you are deeply wounded. Perhaps you were made to feel worthless as a child, or that other people (or things) were more important than you; or perhaps you were made to feel that you should not focus on yourself at all, that it was wrong to do so. Along with this comes a deep, perhaps intense, fear of rejection, which colors the type of people you relate with, and your relationships with them.

In any event, it is a major lesson for you to see that you are valuable, that you have a purpose. Perhaps you might wish to put these words on the wall so you can see them every day: ‘God doesn’t make junk’. Until you learn to value yourself, however, you may find yourself in abusive relationships, or codependent, or placing your partner on a pedestal.

Another expression of Venus conjunct Chiron is a life quest for what is real, valuable, and truly worthwhile in life, a quest for true beauty and value. This can lead you to disregard society’s values, or to try to select what is worthwhile out of all the fake values around. As you do this you may acquire a set of personal values that does not quite fit with those of other people. Depending on the rest of the chart, you may keep this a secret, or be very open about it. The special personal values are there, no matter whether hidden or displayed.

You also have a desire to understand what makes the real world tick; the laws governing material things. It is an excellent aspect for a scientist, for it seems that Venus is not passive when in this aspect. Chiron is trying to uncover as much about Venus as it can.

Chiron conjunct Saturn

This aspect is a rare one. It has occurred exact only once this century (1966) , and the people born with this aspect have a unique perspective unmatched by people born any other time.

Saturn is structure, framework, and walls. It is the shell protecting a lobster, and the skeleton supporting you and me. Without Saturn, there would be no order, no structure, and we would not have any perception of apparent reality. Psychologically, it is also the rules we obey, and the conscience we must deal with; that inner voice that says ‘no’, ‘you should …’, ‘you shouldn’t … ’, ‘you can’t …’ It is any crutch one must use, until one outgrows it. Sometimes, it is absolutely necessary, it is the parent yelling “Stop!” before the little child runs onto the street, as well as the parent repeating over and over, “Look both ways before you cross the street” until the child no longer needs to be reminded. But as it says in the Bible, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” Sometimes, Saturn goes too far, is too strict, too rigid, or does not let the person grow even though they are ready to move beyond their walls into new realms.

As you can imagine, Saturn in a chart shows the influence of authorities when a person was growing up. With the conjunction to Chiron, there is a very powerful and deep wound resulting with a clash with one or both such authority figures as a child. Whatever this wound is will initially be a source of great restriction and insecurity, perhaps even self-hatred. In most cases, one parent (usually the father), is the cause of the wound, and there can be a great deal of deep resentment towards that parent.

With most Chiron positions, a person has an outlet for their pains, although often the person needs to go through a lot of growth and healing before they can get enough in touch with the wound to share their pain, and release the hurt. But Saturn, the ‘wall’, essentially locks people up in their pain. You are forced to confront and deal with it inside, and work at it on your own. For some, this is because they were not allowed to express their hurt; some were not even allowed to experience their pain, so heavy-handed was the authority. In one way or another, physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually, you were abused by those who made the rules, or perhaps, even abandoned them altogether.

Within your own private walls, you had to deal with the hurts, and you had to try to master the issues. By mastering them, you begin to transform your Saturn. Until you begin healing the wound, you may find it a struggle to find your own place in the world. Society and culture at large can be viewed with distrust and suspicion. If you do not heal, you may find yourself overcome with cynicism, or even bitterness and reject social contact altogether.

As stated, when you begin to deal with your pain, you transform Saturn, and in doing so universalize it. You no longer see traditional rules as valid, but look to a more universal set of laws. Saturn ceases to be limitations—only handholds and steps on your journey. Once you have come to terms with this conjunction, it promises a remarkable ability to delve into the most hidden aspects of life’s most basic forms, or society’s most deeply ingrained institutions, or the structures that permeate all levels of a culture. You become an individual who learns to make your own reality. It also indicates that you will never let yourself be a prisoner to any structure, nor a prisoner of the past.

And then you find that you not only can share your pain, you can also help others to open up and share theirs.

I think of singer Edie Brickell. She made her musical debut with a song that asked, “What I am is what I am …. Are you what you are … or what?”

And then followed it with a song that attacked people who keep stuff in that bothers them by responding to “What’s the matter?” with the word “Nothing!”

“There’s nothing I hate more than nothing. “Nothing keeps me up all night. “I toss and turn over nothing. “Nothing could cause a great BIG fight.

“Hey! What’s the matter? “Don’t Tell Me Nothing!”

And she totally threw out most of the ‘shoulds’ and ‘should nots’ that society tried to impose on us. When it was time for her to fall in love, she had no problem marrying a man 25 years older than her (Paul Simon). She was writing her own rules obeying laws of a much higher authority.
