Your task is to accept that your apex of security is not at the centre of the system, but on its fringe. Or you may have had the experience of your family being the outsider in the culture or society you grew up in. This family wound of feeling marginal may have hampered your ability to leave the enmeshed family unit. You may feel that your family has perpetuated and confirmed a myth that the pain of living is great. When you feel secure, you know you can be heroic when faced with being foreign or marginal in the system within which you find yourself. If your parents encouraged a healthy sense of feeling different and demonstrated freedom was possible by not being part of the system, then you internalised a healthy sense of being foreign. You would have developed the self-esteem to be secure in a foreign environment and acquired the ability to be compassionate and caring about others who suffer the same sense of disenfranchisement. Feeling marginal and peripheral you are at risk of recreating relationships where abandonment or exclusion impedes intimacy. With any Chiron trine, the deep wound is a battle between growing versus following a particular path and getting stuck. With Jupiter, it is in the realm of beliefs, and philosophies, as well as in understanding how other people think.

Part of the problem lies in the early years of life. You had experiences both good and bad that forced revision of your belief system. The experiences came from the most unexpected directions from areas where you assumed you knew pretty much all there was to know. Quincunx is always an aspect of adjustment. Chiron shows where one needs to focus on healing, and in many ways it can be said to show the hero’s journey, the dragons one must overcome in order to become whole. Historically, you can see that this aspect is tied into the accelerated pace of scientific advancement during the second half of the Twentieth Century. Actually, one of the problems is that science is making discoveries faster than they can be integrated into society; even faster than proper safeguards can be devised for our protection from side effects and from the discoveries themselves.

This same ‘vibration’ is, in many ways, a part of the nature of individuals who have this aspect. There is a thirst for the new, for discovery, for experiences, that often outweighs the taking of any precautions. Others dare not try to curtail your freedom, the consequences may not be pleasant. The urge for independence can be so strong that it can create difficulties in relationships.
