But the more you heal, the more you desire to learn about yourself, and about the world, the more you learn, the more you heal. To some extent this means that you may be a student for your entire life.

Careers where it is important to remain secure, learning is where you will shine, where you can do something to help others heal in some way, physically, or emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or a career where you open minds, encouraging others to want to learn. So you could have a career as a healer, or you could be that teacher people remember because you made them want to explore the world after they left your class.

Chiron, in close proximity to your North Node, invites you to understand the complex nature of healing. One way this is possible is through the journey into understanding our own wounds whether those are mental or physical. In antiquity, wounding and healing were considered to be the domain of the gods; neither could be separated from the other. To the pre-rational mind wounding and healing belonged to the sphere of the mysterious, the department of the divine. While we are more sophisticated today, the wisdom is the same; healing is possible when we engage in the mystery of the self and participate in understanding the contents of the unconscious. Chiron's placement is an indication you have the ability to know this truth, able to read symptoms and diagnose the heart of the discontent.

A serious disease or difficult prognosis is often the voice that calls us away from the course of an unreflective life into a more meaningful and soulful pathway. In your case there may be other triggers that lead you to your own unique path of self exploration. What is important to recognize that you are summonsed onto a healing pathway, because of your own depth of understanding. Therefore vocationally it is important to consider how you might integrate education, well being and self understanding into your chosen field. It is important to know that the amalgam of both traditional and complementary methods is necessary for you to be successful. What you believed in as a child, became a source of wound for you. Perhaps you had to put up a wall around yourself to protect yourself from attacks on what you believed, or perhaps you had to accept certain things ‘without question’. In any event, there is pain buried beneath the surface connected with your beliefs, and how you interpret events and situations that you come across. As a result, early in life, you had a tendency to take what you believed for granted, or being too comfortable in your beliefs.

The universe it seems, abhors any resistance to change, so until you learn to heal from your wound, you go through periods of upheaval, as traumatic events come to challenge the validity of your personal belief system. The results usually go one of two ways: a tendency to make some adaptation, but essentially to keep the same beliefs, or a realization that to grow, one must be open to new ideas, new concepts. If the first pattern is followed, there will be many more such challenges, until you learn to adopt the second pattern.

As a result of the wound, you may have built up walls to shield yourself from these new challenges, but such walls are almost always shattered by the next challenge.

When you have begun to heal, you grow to accept the idea of growth and acceptance of new ways of interpreting situations, new beliefs, and new abstract ideas. This has the added benefit often enabling you to perceive hidden meanings that others never dream about.

Compared to the average person, you have a unique way of interpreting things. As healing progresses, you have a talent for working in any area in which it is important to convey a slant that differs from the ordinary. This aspect can make you an ideal teacher, able to get the meaning across in complex subjects. If you go into public service, you will go beyond the system to enable the truth to emerge.

On the one hand, this aspect gives you the ability to see many opportunities that are missed by most people. In fact, you can often perceive so many that it is difficult for you to decide which to pursue! So one lesson here is to learn to choose from this huge field rather than feeling overwhelmed with too many choices.

Between 1952 and 1989 Chiron exactly opposed Uranus forty-one times, and was in orb of opposition for just about everyone born during those 47 years. Thus, it is more of a generational influence than an individual one.

Historically, you can see that this aspect is tied into the accelerated pace of scientific advancement during the second half of the Twentieth Century. Actually, one of the problems is that science is making discoveries faster than they can be integrated into society; even faster than proper safeguards can be devised for our protection from side effects and from the discoveries themselves.

This same ‘vibration’ is, in many ways, a part of the nature of individuals who have this aspect. There is a thirst for the new, for discovery, for experiences, that often outweighs the taking of any precautions. Others dare not try to curtail your freedom, the consequences may not be pleasant. The urge for independence can be so strong that it can create difficulties in relationships. The only relationships that truly last for someone with this aspect is one where each person is given a lot of space to be themselves, in truth, it is difficult to find someone sufficiently secure to give a partner that much freedom. It does give a real spirit, though.

The wound of the whole generation, though, can be summed up in the words, ‘fallen heroes’. For thousands of years, people had heroes to worship, people to look up to as almost godlike. But this generation has seen all of its heroes fall, or show very unheroic sides, or in one way or another, prove they are just like everyone else. As a result, your generation has had a wound that each person must learn to heal in his/her own way, but the lesson is to become one’s own hero to become the person you would like to look up to and respect.

This is an aspect in effect for many people. It gives the individual a tendency to take for granted that the dreams you dream are ideals that will lead to a whole life, and may not be consciously aware of how important these dreams are to you.

If, in childhood, you were allowed to dream and express the dreams, as an adult you will feel very comfortable exploring matters of alternate realities and ideals which could slowly change the world. On the other hand, if you were told in childhood to stick to the real world, the dreams you take for granted will be just the dreams instilled in you by others. To best understand yourself, you must take time to look at your deepest dreams and decide are they truly your own, or have you just taken the dreams of others and sacrificed your own?

This aspect enables you to sojourn beyond the present world into more spiritual realms to help you heal, and it would be advisable for you to take time on a regular basis for meditation, yoga, or other transcendental activities. Chiron and Pluto do not reach opposition often, but when they do they often continue that aspect for several years, creating what some call a sub-generation. In the past hundred years, they only were in opposition for one period, but everyone born from March 1961 through February 1966 have this aspect in their chart.

This aspect seems to express itself in one of two ways.

• In some natives it shows up as a great need to overcome some powerful inner hostility stemming from early childhood. This hostility may come from being constantly thwarted by parents, or from being a recipient of hostility from others in the environment. Whatever the cause, there are major lessons to learn about opening up, getting in touch with the inner rage, and then cleansing it once and for all from the system.

• In other persons, rather than anger, the expression is a need to win, to overcome obstacles and to beat any opponent. In both cases, you need to face the root of the hostility, or intensity, in order to bring about the needed healing.

It also gives a deep awareness of suffering, something you can put out of your mind but which never completely leaves you. I once read that we laugh at most jokes because it is a way to deal with the pain and suffering; we laugh because we can identify with the sorrow the object of the joke is experiencing and the laughter is a needed release.
