Putting these together shows that you have some very deep wounds which have many levels, and have impacted your personal growth in many directions. As a result, your life will be an ongoing journey of healing as you uncover this pain, that hurt, and work to heal them.

It can be quite difficult, with periods of seemingly long-term discomfort and perhaps low self-esteem, forcing you to adjust your perspective on yourself, the world around you, and the people you interact with.

And this can go on until you come to terms with the fact that your life will never become set, unchanging; your perspectives must always be open to new ways of looking at things; and that each time you go through the healing of another wound you are stronger, more whole, able to handle the next ‘dragon’ you need to face.

Chiron quincunx Moon

This aspect has heightened your ability to be an instinctively keen judge of others. You can sense subtle moods, feelings and emotions as others experience them, that the average observer would miss. You have always been very sensitive, even as a child, and this meant that you were easily hurt by what others said and felt, even if the words and feelings were not directed towards you. As a result, you could be carrying around a lot of pain, deep within, and part of your healing will require you to release the pain, and forgive those who hurt you (whether it was intentional or unintentional).

Because you are so sensitive, you hate it when people are less than candid with you. You can pick up a lot from cues, such as from body language, or passive aggressive behaviour, and you would much rather have someone state what they don’t like than to have to read it from the signals they send. As a child, you might have received a lot of mixed messages, and what they said to you without words hurt you more than anything that was verbalized. You can draw others out, though, and get them to say what is really on their mind. This can be a big asset in helping others. (It is hard to solve a problem if the person does not clearly explain what needs to be resolved.)

It is not always easy for others to get close to you; however, perhaps it is because you can see right through pretences. But also, because of acute sensitivity; many people with this aspect have taken the path of insulating themselves from people after a while or at least become very selective about whom they deal with. The danger is that you can close off your heart if you insulate yourself too much. The most negative expression of this aspect is a fearful view of the world in which everyone is seen as being deceptive. But, as with any Chiron aspect, this condition need not develop and can be changed when you learn to distinguish between someone expressing different levels of self (being inconsistent), as contrasted with someone being purposely deceptive.

On a plus side, your sensitivity can give you an almost instinctive sense of good timing, as if you sense all the currents going at any moment.

Chiron sextile Sun

With this aspect, you can use your distinctive characteristics as tools to help you get where you want to go; beyond walls, beyond limits, without very much difficulty, and, you seem to enjoy doing so.

Perhaps because of this you seem to have an understanding, even an acceptance of others who are different from the norm and can work well with them if you choose to do so.

Normally, a sextile implies that one can reap great benefits if one first puts forth the effort. This is true here, but with a twist: with Chiron you seem unable to avoid putting forth the effort; you feel you always must be doing something. (It’s difficult for you to take time out to relax!) Chiron seems always to want you to do something else, and something else again. So, you tend to get a lot done.

This aspect can attract people to you who can become followers, or fans. But it also does give rise to another group of people who do not care for you. In other words, with this aspect, you tend to have people divided into people on your side, and those who prefer not to have anything to do with you.

Chiron square Saturn

It is a rare person with this aspect who did not as a child have a great deal of difficulty with parents. Since this aspect seems to stay within orb for many years, it seems to represent more people, whole generations, rather than single individuals. Thus, a great many people came from homes where there was difficulty dealing with authority. This aspect expresses itself as a tendency to get set into some routine, or some effort to build a structure that is impervious to change. You have a clear-cut idea of reality, and while you might not like it, it is secure. But then Chiron comes along and throws you totally off your feet. You may easily feel that you have been zapped! The world picture is suddenly different from what you had thought it was, and reality must be drastically redefined. At this point, you have two options:

1. Allow fear to take over, withdraw, not knowing who or what to trust. You know that what you had counted on no longer works, but you fear looking for something that will work. The best thing you could do at this point would be to seek guidance, but it is a scary thing to do, and some people allow themselves to be almost crushed before seeking help.

2. This is the more positive expression. You recognize that it is up to you to put the pieces together to form a more coherent personal definition of reality. You pull yourself together, sometimes seeking assistance from a counsellor, psychologist or guru, and attempt to construct a more workable life system with a structure that will withstand whatever comes. At this point crucial decisions are made. You may go so far as to establish a new, tight, secure foundation for yourself, and then hide behind it. If this path is chosen, you will find that you must eventually go through the catastrophe all over again as you discover that the new reality is faulty, too. or, you may go to the extreme of disregarding conventions, structures, and any definition of reality altogether. You may become totally anti-authority. If you choose this route, you will also, one day, reach a critical point where everything collapses around you, only for you, it may eventually be the coming of a very heavy Saturn event (imprisonment, poverty, ostracism) causing a great loss of personal freedom. What this aspect is trying to teach you is a major lesson, but if you do not learn from such experience, the cycle can repeat.

The most positive path, however, is the acceptance of any definition of reality as temporary, and any structure as useful, but only as a means to an end. By learning to accept change, accepting authority as necessary to a particular situation (but not as all-powerful), accept that those in power are also human, you reach a great equilibrium. You can use Saturn when needed, and go beyond it when necessary. In fact, you can create your own structures to fit the occasion, and discard them when they’re no longer needed. One of the people with this aspect, Robin Williams, said it best as the title of his album, ‘Reality is a Crutch’.

Chiron trine Neptune

This is an aspect in effect for many people. It gives the individual a tendency to take for granted that the dreams you dream are ideals that will lead to a whole life, and may not be consciously aware of how important these dreams are to you.

If, in childhood, you were allowed to dream and express the dreams, as an adult you will feel very comfortable exploring matters of alternate realities and ideals which could slowly change the world. On the other hand, if you were told in childhood to stick to the real world, the dreams you take for granted will be just the dreams instilled in you by others. To best understand yourself, you must take time to look at your deepest dreams and decide are they truly your own, or have you just taken the dreams of others and sacrificed your own?

Chiron opposition Pluto

Chiron and Pluto do not reach opposition often, but when they do they often continue that aspect for several years, creating what some call a sub-generation. In the past hundred years, they only were in opposition for one period, but everyone born from March 1961 through February 1966 have this aspect in their chart.

This aspect seems to express itself in one of two ways.

• In some natives it shows up as a great need to overcome some powerful inner hostility stemming from early childhood. This hostility may come from being constantly thwarted by parents, or from being a recipient of hostility from others in the environment. Whatever the cause, there are major lessons to learn about opening up, getting in touch with the inner rage, and then cleansing it once and for all from the system.

• In other persons, rather than anger, the expression is a need to win, to overcome obstacles and to beat any opponent. In both cases, you need to face the root of the hostility, or intensity, in order to bring about the needed healing.

It also gives a deep awareness of suffering, something you can put out of your mind but which never completely leaves you. I once read that we laugh at most jokes because it is a way to deal with the pain and suffering; we laugh because we can identify with the sorrow the object of the joke is experiencing and the laughter is a needed release.

Chiron sextile Midheaven

The Midheaven is how you are seen by the public, and is what has often been called the ‘ego ideal’ that is, what role you want to strive to become. This is why it is tied in to career; think of the child who speaks about what he ‘wants to be when he grows up’ and you’ll have a good idea of the Midheaven energy.

Chiron shows that at some point when you were growing up, there was pain associated with what you wanted to be when you matured. It may be that you were made to feel that you had to find the right career and nothing else would do. Or it may be that some adults tried to force you into accepting the idea that you would never become anything important without working very hard at it, that nothing would ever come easy for you. In any event, on some level, it became extremely important that you find out what you want to do with your life, the role you want to play, and that you are sure it will be the ‘right objective.

This aspect also gives you the ability to help open doors for other people, to be the person that helps someone get their foot in the door if needed.
