The universe it seems, abhors any resistance to change, so until you learn to heal from your wound, you go through periods of upheaval, as traumatic events come to challenge the validity of your personal belief system. The results usually go one of two ways: a tendency to make some adaptation, but essentially to keep the same beliefs, or a realization that to grow, one must be open to new ideas, new concepts. Between 1952 and 1989 Chiron exactly opposed Uranus forty-one times, and was in orb of opposition for just about everyone born during those 47 years. Thus, it is more of a generational influence than an individual one.

Historically, you can see that this aspect is tied into the accelerated pace of scientific advancement during the second half of the Twentieth Century. Actually, one of the problems is that science is making discoveries faster than they can be integrated into society; even faster than proper safeguards can be devised for our protection from side effects and from the discoveries themselves.

This same ‘vibration’ is, in many ways, a part of the nature of individuals who have this aspect. There is a thirst for the new, for discovery, for experiences, that often outweighs the taking of any precautions. Others dare not try to curtail your freedom, the consequences may not be pleasant. The urge for independence can be so strong that it can create difficulties in relationships. The only relationships that truly last for someone with this aspect is one where each person is given a lot of space to be themselves, in truth, it is difficult to find someone sufficiently secure to give a partner that much freedom. It does give a real spirit, though.

The wound of the whole generation, though, can be summed up in the words, ‘fallen heroes’. For thousands of years, people had heroes to worship, people to look up to as almost godlike. But this generation has seen all of its heroes fall, or show very unheroic sides, or in one way or another, prove they are just like everyone else. As a result, your generation has had a wound that each person must learn to heal in his/her own way, but the lesson is to become one’s own hero to become the person you would like to look up to and respect.

Chiron trine Neptune

This is an aspect in effect for many people. It gives the individual a tendency to take for granted that the dreams you dream are ideals that will lead to a whole life, and may not be consciously aware of how important these dreams are to you.

If, in childhood, you were allowed to dream and express the dreams, as an adult you will feel very comfortable exploring matters of alternate realities and ideals which could slowly change the world. On the other hand, if you were told in childhood to stick to the real world, the dreams you take for granted will be just the dreams instilled in you by others. To best understand yourself, you must take time to look at your deepest dreams and decide are they truly your own, or have you just taken the dreams of others and sacrificed your own?

This aspect enables you to sojourn beyond the present world into more spiritual realms to help you heal, and it would be advisable for you to take time on a regular basis for meditation, yoga, or other transcendental activities. Chiron opposition Pluto

Chiron and Pluto do not reach opposition often, but when they do they often continue that aspect for several years, creating what some call a sub-generation. In the past hundred years, they only were in opposition for one period, but everyone born from March 1961 through February 1966 have this aspect in their chart.

This aspect seems to express itself in one of two ways.

• In some natives it shows up as a great need to overcome some powerful inner hostility stemming from early childhood. This hostility may come from being constantly thwarted by parents, or from being a recipient of hostility from others in the environment. Whatever the cause, there are major lessons to learn about opening up, getting in touch with the inner rage, and then cleansing it once and for all from the system.

• In other persons, rather than anger, the expression is a need to win, to overcome obstacles and to beat any opponent. In both cases, you need to face the root of the hostility, or intensity, in order to bring about the needed healing.

It also gives a deep awareness of suffering, something you can put out of your mind but which never completely leaves you. I once read that we laugh at most jokes because it is a way to deal with the pain and suffering; we laugh because we can identify with the sorrow the object of the joke is experiencing and the laughter is a needed release.

Chiron opposition Pluto people often make excellent storytellers, and tellers of jokes, because of this powerful awareness.

Chiron Square Moon

Chiron is not a Planet in the astronomical sense, but as a celestial wanderer it fits the ancient tradition of a Planet. In many ways Chiron is marginal to the herd of Planets and metaphorically parallels these feelings of being an outsider. In aspect to the Moon it highlights the sense of feeling displaced. Often this is experienced through dislocation, abandonment or relinquishment.

Chiron combines with the Moon in a way that is akin to that uncomfortable feeling of being a stranger in a strange land. For many this combination has been experienced as their mother’s postnatal depression, a family separation, an adoption or emigration. It is also possible that a parental wound of displacement or exclusion may have psychically harmed your sense of safety. However this presents in your life experience, it suggests your process of being close to your caretakers has been bruised by feelings of exclusion that infected the family atmosphere and your feelings of security. You may harbour feelings of marginality with the need to be accepted often resulting in a feeling of exclusion. Your task is to accept that your apex of security is not at the centre of the system, but on its fringe. Your fate may be to wander or feel displaced before your sense of belonging can be established. Or you may have had the experience of your family being the outsider in the culture or society you grew up in. This family wound of feeling marginal may have hampered your ability to leave the enmeshed family unit. You may feel that your family has perpetuated and confirmed a myth that the pain of living is great. If this is so, then you may feel that your spirit to adventure and explore beyond the family and its culture has been compromised.

When you feel secure, you know you can be heroic when faced with being foreign or marginal in the system within which you find yourself. If your parents encouraged a healthy sense of feeling different and demonstrated freedom was possible by not being part of the system, then you internalised a healthy sense of being foreign. You would have developed the self-esteem to be secure in a foreign environment and acquired the ability to be compassionate and caring about others who suffer the same sense of disenfranchisement. In many ways this is the task of this aspect.

However if there was not enough parental support, you felt orphaned from your family unit. Your sense of attachment may have suffered due to a parental wound. When a parent’s spirit is broken, the shade haunts the family atmosphere, leaving you feeling helpless and unprepared to become part of a greater community. Your destiny is to engage in the depth understanding and healing of the family wound that keeps you feeling disenfranchised.

Feeling marginal and peripheral you are at risk of recreating relationships where abandonment or exclusion impedes intimacy. Healing comes through the forging of close bonds with others who accept you. Your kindred spirits accept you into their inner circle and celebrate your differences. They engage with you on your own level without making you feel that you need to be one of them. Through your close relationships with soulmates your feelings of exclusion and marginality are healed.

Chiron sextile Venus

You have a great deal of love for others, and caring but it seems the Venus passivity is accentuated in this aspect. That is, this sextile seems to express itself more quietly and subtly than most other Chiron aspects.

Positively, you tend to try and help others on a day-to-day basis, sometimes openly but seldom advertised. But negatively, at times you could be more assertive in giving your assistance.

Part of the wound here is that you were made to feel, to some extent, that your assistance was not of value, or that others could be of more help than yourself. So one of your lessons in life is to get to know yourself well enough to truly see your value, both to yourself and to other people. Because the sextile is an aspect that requires some work in order to reap the benefits, you need to interact with people frequently, on many different levels, in order to learn just how much you are worth. As you heal, you learn not only of your own value, but gain insight to help others see their own value. Many with this aspect go on to help the under-privileged, the ill, the handicapped, to find ways to be of use to society.

Chiron here does bring out your romantic side or your poetic nature. There is a definite one-of-a-kind quality in any talent you have, and should other aspects propel you into the arts, your creative works will live long after you have passed on.

Chiron square Midheaven

A square makes you easily dissatisfied with the ordinary circumstances of life. There are deep wounds connected with both parents (or whoever your authority role models were in childhood), as you were very sensitive to everything they said, as well as to any conflict or undercurrent of anger or dissension that passed between them. One parent, or perhaps both, made you feel you had little self-worth. You may have repeated memories of feeling let down by role models you looked up to. It may be because you were made to feel that you would never amount to something, or it may be that you were constantly made to feel that you must find the right career for yourself and nothing else would do,perhaps not having the right tools or knowledge needed to find this ideal profession. Part of your healing must involve recognizing that you are different than your parents were. That, to paraphrase Gibran, you are from them, but you are not them. No matter what type of relationship they had with each other, your relationships need not be anything like theirs. Careers where it is important to remain secure, learning is where you will shine, where you can do something to help others heal in some way, physically, or emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or a career where you open minds, encouraging others to want to learn. So you could have a career as a healer, or you could be that teacher people remember because you made them want to explore the world after they left your class.
