While this leaves you feeling an outsider, the truth is that you are keenly aware of what the system needs to be whole. Chiron is the image of the archetypal mentor and healer who teaches the disenfranchised young boys to become heroic. Similarly your challenge is to embrace what has been relinquished and integrate it back into the system. You are an advocate for approaches that are not purely mechanistic, economic and based on reason. Therefore it is possible that this urge will lead you into an 'alternate' discipline, one that complements what is generally accepted. This could lead you into the areas of unorthodox healing or therapy, unusual education, or alternative philosophies. You are a sensitive and caring soul who can be is easily wounded by life. You may be subject to a range of illnesses, perhaps even serious health concerns, which can impact on you both physically and emotionally. As a result of life's experiences you will come to realise that you possess a unique gift for healing; indeed a profession in the healing arts could ideally suit your temperament and abilities. You would be wise to listen and honour your inner self. You may find that you are put into situations that are painful and through this suffering you will become a more caring and giving individual. You will discover that healing takes place on many levels and come to understand that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions are intertwined and of equal importance. You can make a valuable contribution to the health and wellbeing of others and may become involved in teaching the lessons you have learned. Honouring and expressing your individuality may be a challenge, but will bring rewards as you develop wisdom.

Chiron conjunct Venus

This aspect gives, potentially, a great deal of love which comes spontaneously from you, which you can use as a real healing influence, giving most to those most in need. You have so much love, and caring, to give; others may think you give way too much in a relationship and don’t think enough about yourself. To some extent this is true, because no matter how giving you are you never feel it is enough.

But the flip side is that you are extremely vulnerable to being easily hurt, your love is given without strings or expectations, and perhaps without any defenses at all. It is, potentially, a very idealistic position. To quote from a popular song, ‘The world was not made for one as beautiful as you.’ If the aspect expresses itself this way, it is a painful lesson you gradually learn about what the world is like, so that you can deal with situations realistically, and still give out love.

Venus rules, among other things, what you truly value, especially in yourself; your self-worth and here is where you are deeply wounded. Perhaps you were made to feel worthless as a child, or that other people (or things) were more important than you; or perhaps you were made to feel that you should not focus on yourself at all, that it was wrong to do so. Along with this comes a deep, perhaps intense, fear of rejection, which colors the type of people you relate with, and your relationships with them.

In any event, it is a major lesson for you to see that you are valuable, that you have a purpose. Perhaps you might wish to put these words on the wall so you can see them every day: ‘God doesn’t make junk’. Until you learn to value yourself, however, you may find yourself in abusive relationships, or codependent, or placing your partner on a pedestal.

Another expression of Venus conjunct Chiron is a life quest for what is real, valuable, and truly worthwhile in life, a quest for true beauty and value. This can lead you to disregard society’s values, or to try to select what is worthwhile out of all the fake values around. As you do this you may acquire a set of personal values that does not quite fit with those of other people. Depending on the rest of the chart, you may keep this a secret, or be very open about it. The special personal values are there, no matter whether hidden or displayed.

You also have a desire to understand what makes the real world tick; the laws governing material things. It is an excellent aspect for a scientist, for it seems that Venus is not passive when in this aspect. Chiron is trying to uncover as much about Venus as it can.

Chiron opposition Uranus

Between 1952 and 1989 Chiron exactly opposed Uranus forty-one times, and was in orb of opposition for just about everyone born during those 47 years. Thus, it is more of a generational influence than an individual one.

Historically, you can see that this aspect is tied into the accelerated pace of scientific advancement during the second half of the Twentieth Century. Actually, one of the problems is that science is making discoveries faster than they can be integrated into society; even faster than proper safeguards can be devised for our protection from side effects and from the discoveries themselves.

This same ‘vibration’ is, in many ways, a part of the nature of individuals who have this aspect. There is a thirst for the new, for discovery, for experiences, that often outweighs the taking of any precautions. Others dare not try to curtail your freedom, the consequences may not be pleasant. The urge for independence can be so strong that it can create difficulties in relationships. The only relationships that truly last for someone with this aspect is one where each person is given a lot of space to be themselves, in truth, it is difficult to find someone sufficiently secure to give a partner that much freedom. It does give a real spirit, though.

The wound of the whole generation, though, can be summed up in the words, ‘fallen heroes’. For thousands of years, people had heroes to worship, people to look up to as almost godlike. But this generation has seen all of its heroes fall, or show very unheroic sides, or in one way or another, prove they are just like everyone else. As a result, your generation has had a wound that each person must learn to heal in his/her own way, but the lesson is to become one’s own hero to become the person you would like to look up to and respect.
